Do bleachers/stairs/hills. that helps tremendously. also do sqauts and lunges with wiegths in your hands. I run cross country so i should know this :)
i hate this workout we do for practice (it's boring but helps a lot too) you run one mile, timed, then record, then take like a 3 or 5 min break and run a second one, and try to beat that time. do this about three times once a week. it helps to know about quickening your pace and makes you faster.good luck!

Stop using ankle weights before you injure yourself. Using weights to run does not make you faster or stronger. To increase your endurance you must run longer distances, and do some fast work to improve your stress endurance. To improve your speed you must run faster, along with weight lifting and plyometric exercise. You can run stairs or stadium steps which will also help your strength. What type of running are you trying to do so we can give you a program for training? Basically run long distance 3 to 5 days per week, and do weights 2 days per week, do plyometrics 2 days per week, they can be on the weight days, run some kind of intervals 1 or 2 days per week.

You can't increase your speed no matter what you do. You are born with what you have. Stamina is another question. Just practice, practice, practice.
