Onbase plus slugging seems like a bit of a nonsense statistic. Each of them is quite important on their own, but as a basis of comparison, it seems silly. For a lead-off hitter, OBP is more important, for someone in the middle of a lineup, SLG is more important. Yet this stat adds them at a 1:1 ratio, uses it as a baseline for comparison, and all the analyists LOVE the stat.

I think Seattle is going to have problems because they are to much into the future, they got rid of Allen and Rashard. It's going to be a long time until they are truley championship contendors. What if Kevin Durant doesn't turn out to be the great player that everyone expected him to be, that will ruin the Sonics franchise for years to come. Also the Celtics are only caring about the present, they have 3 superstars that are great, but they are all 30 or over. They only have a couple years of prime basketball left, after that theirs not much more they can offer. I think these are the mistakes that these 2 teams made.

& I really wonder what does they mean by- :"Pato will train with Milan and will be able to play the friendly matches starting from the 3rd of September 2007. From the 3rd of January 2008 onwards he will also be able to play in the official games."
Does this mean that he wonot be available to play in Uefa Champions League & Serie A until January???
anyway Iam just so happy to see him in Milan

Recently, I heard that a few NFL teams are reducing the number of two a days. Now there is a debate in a few states to reduce the number of 2 a days at the high school level because of they say that it is harmful for kids. I disagree with this because I feel, as a former high school football player, that 2 a days is most needed at the high school level since kids are still trying to learn the fundamentals of the game. Of course it should be controlled and the kids should be provided plenty of fluids, but I don't think states should ban it. The results will be sloppier high school football games and possibly fewer recruits into the college level because the kids may miss out on the opportunity to get in extra practices.

Do you think 2 a days should be banned at the high school level?

So ESPN is showing every Giants game, and I happened to watch the 1st game while I ate my Oreos tonight. Barry Zito retired the first 3 batters he faced. It is a Marlin 336as 30/30. I have found the serial # and it is 02047xxx i heard that I would subtract the 20 from 100 so it means it would be made in 1980. Does this mean the serial number is 47xxx? Or would it be 100 - 02 which would be 1998? And is this model made any more? I couldn't find it on their webpage. And I paid $240 for it. It is about 85-92% and it has a scope. Was this a good price?

do you think that some players will favour a move to one team rather than another just because of the location of the team rather than the teams ability?

i heard chris baird moved to fulham rather than sunderland (in what seems like a stupid decision) just to live in london
i mean ok, sunderland have just been promoted but they are a much bigger club than fulham in stadia, fanbase and history
