There is a girl in one of my classes at scool she is one of the greatest people I know, but she has down syndrome. When she found out I take karate she was very interested and wants to take it as well. I am just worried about her because she becomes very depressed when she can not succed at something ( there is not much that she can't do but participating in gym is real hard for her), almost suicidal. I don't want to make her unhappy. I have heard about people with special needs suceeding in karate. I just don't want to hurt her. Should I encourage her to take it or suggest she find another activity she is interested in.

she is 15

her parents don't care as long as she is happy- should i consult one of her paras

I'm trying to cosplay as somebody that wears red hakama. I don't have a very extensive budget so can anyone tell me where I can get hakama or give me a SIMPLE pattern for making some hakama for UNDER $30?

I have very little sewing experience, I've never used a machine before. Also if anybody makes hakama, would you take a commission for red hakama?

I attended a Kung-Fu club meeting out of curiosity. They were practicing some butterfly kicks and other flash kicks.I asked if they sparred at all, and they said no. I asked why, the guy said he knew a Death Touch or something and could kill someone, why would he spar.

That pretty much caused me to leave.

I am a brown belt in karate, iam 16 years old. I am often asked to teach the lower belts aged 5-11, they are terrors, they don't listen and they run around screaming, which looks bad on me. The teacher won't let me give them pushups. I have tried bribing them , it doesn't work. They have 5-10 minutes beffore class to act like little hooligans. I hide before class because they are so crazy, my rule is unless they are fighting or going to hurt themselves stay out of the gym! Please help

what i mean is,
like practicing, when someone attacks you, then you stepping in, blocking then counterattacking him,
does TKD include this in this art?

because in shotokan they do that quite often,

because what i see they do is match with gears on and just kick, and you can really learn self defense from that,

so, do they train you in one point attack?
and is TKD usefull for a street fight?
as for fighting against someone in a bar, prison, street, phonebooth, etc etc?

please help

Let's say you had the ability to duplicate any physical action you seen. Studying martial artists, you create your own martial art that has a lot of the techniques that you have come across.

Would this martial art be Jeet Kune Do, or would it be a whole new martial art?

Note: Please, if you don't know anything about martial arts or Jeet Kune Do, don't answer. I hate reading answers where people just respond with, "Sorry, but I don't know".

hey i need help in deciding what martial art to choose.
i am 17 yrs old and i am very fit. i go to gym 3 times a week and i am very strong. i have some experience in karate which i was forced to do when i was 12 but it was too boring for me so i played soccer and thus how i got into fitness.
well really what i need to know is a good martial art that involves fast reactions and preferbly punching and kicking.
i have grown up in melbourne and i live the normal teenage lifestyle of goin out partying and occasionally getting into street fights because of my environment and the people i hang around.

if anyone could help it would be appreciated

i dont need to learn grappling forms of martial arts since most of my fights vary in how many people involved and usually people get droped in a few hits so grappling would be useless in a gang situation.

weapons are sometimes involed so i need something to get my reactions faster.

any suggestions?

im just saying does ur fight instinct takeover when u r realy mad, do u just forget the techniques u have learnt is wat im realy asking

I often dont listen to techno music and I knwo this kind of sounds odd but I was just dying to know ever since I got finished watching the pay per view of UFC 79 what piece of music that was that Wanderleii Silva was introduced with in his debut.

Can someoen pls verify the Music artist and the song title pls?

All I can assume so far is that the genre was probably techno and or electronic dance.I have to have that piece though.

I posted a question about proper foot mechinacs while performing a spinning back fist punch...i got two answers stating not to do it and the proper technique was not to do it...now obviously the people that said that are just ufc fans and most likley never train and are only speculating from past fights they have seen on tv...i personally have never used one in a fight because of instinct to keep my eyes on the other man...but many MMA that ive seen use this punch have used it when the other man is either more gased than they are or trying to end a fight that wont end...it doesnt seem to be any different from a attempted roundhouse to the head...both pose an equal threat of being taken down or countered in the jaw with a right hook...what do you think about these kinds of moves...and when do you think they should be used?

I would like to purchase a heavy bag and wondered what one would use to fill it if bought online, unfilled such as found here at the bottom of the page:

http://store.titleboxing.com/thaisheav1.html

It would save me money on shipping and cost of the item but I am not sure if it is even worth it. The descriptions of filled bags mention single or multiple layers of reinforcement foam to resist sagging over time. Any input is appreciated, thanks.
