Let's say you had the ability to duplicate any physical action you seen. Studying martial artists, you create your own martial art that has a lot of the techniques that you have come across.

Would this martial art be Jeet Kune Do, or would it be a whole new martial art?

Note: Please, if you don't know anything about martial arts or Jeet Kune Do, don't answer. I hate reading answers where people just respond with, "Sorry, but I don't know".

Bruce taught that "Style" is NOT the answer you are looking for. His was a "way-less way" or a "Style-less Style" Countless times he would say, "Take from everything, keep only what works, and add something of you're own." - So if you truly study ANY style of martial Art, you are studying Jeet Kune Do, even if in part. Good luck!

One of the things about JKD and Bruce Lee is that he operated at what they sometimes call the synthesis level. He took various techniques and concepts and wove them together into a system. He did not just do that by chance but rather by having the ability to look at things from different perspectives and analyze them and turn them inside out, upside down, and make decisions about how it fit in with what he was trying to do. Some of his early books, drawings and teachings show this quite well. Not all people possess this ability in their field or area of work or expertise. One of the other things that made him such a revolutionary was his idea of taking those techniques and concepts which were useful from some art and incorporating it into his own and using it and discarding that which was not a good fit. This was very controversial during the late 60's/early 70's and individuals that thought this way were ostracized by their traditional minded counterparts. Gracie and BJJ is another example of this and how for years they were not recognized or respected for their ideas and their ability to do this. So I would say it would be a new martial art if this was to come along again being done by someone else.

That is kinda what Bruce Lee did,he saw what worked in different styles, and brought them all together,of course with his own interpretation, creating Jeet Kune Do.Every style of Martial Arts has something to offer.Putting all that knowledge together as one, would create the ultimate system of fighting. We would be so fortunate if Mr.Lee would have lived another 50 years so we could absorb much more of his beliefs.

I wouldn't try to develop a new style without studying at least two arts for at least 5-10 years each. You can't learn it from observation - there are a lot of things going on that you can't actually see.
