what i mean is,
like practicing, when someone attacks you, then you stepping in, blocking then counterattacking him,
does TKD include this in this art?

because in shotokan they do that quite often,

because what i see they do is match with gears on and just kick, and you can really learn self defense from that,

so, do they train you in one point attack?
and is TKD usefull for a street fight?
as for fighting against someone in a bar, prison, street, phonebooth, etc etc?

please help

One step sparring (One Step Kumite is what you call it right)? Not all schools, but like 80% of them do. I used to take Tae Kwon Do. It was a requirement for every belt that you know a certain amount defense techniques, and they go from one steps like that, to three, wrist grabs, chokes, shoulders grabs, et cetera...

Is the art practical? It depends how it's taught really. Some schools go for trophies, some tell you how to keep yourself safe, and some combine the two. It depends. It's best to continue on with other arts because there's certain combat ranges that aren't covered by it, but it's your choice. If you are looking for self-defense at its core, than take a combat system or self-defense class.

TKD is more of an olympic sport. Point fighting versus actual street fighting. It's not likely you'd see anyone using TKD in an actual fight.

Don't get me wrong, I've taken TKD for years and I love it. However, I do it more for the sport than self defense.

TKD does use one step sparring. Most schools don't focus heavily on it though.

I'm not sure about TKD, but Krav Maga teaches you to defend, along with using a simultaneous attack.

factor sparring in Taekwondo? by no potential heard of it. factor sparring in karate, confident. i replaced into invited to officiate at a karate adventure as quickly as, and replaced into presented to point sparring that way. It looked ridiculous and inefficient to me. each time a factor is earned (by utilising exhibiting reason rather of actual touch!), the middle ref pulls the two opposition lower back to the waiting place and starts off them off lower back. How does a competitor ever get warmed up that way? How does the circulate of the combat ever get going with all that battling and commencing? i'm probably biased, yet I a techniques desire Olympic-form sparring to point sparring.
