everybody fedor fights looks bad, not because they are bad but because he is so good that they look bad by comparison, then of course there is the fact that the other fighters, not the promoters or the fans who say fedor is the best. here is what the best in the world say about who is #1 p4p:
"Fedor is the best pfp fighter in the world." - Randy Couture,
"Fedor is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world aside from bj Penn, those 2 are the best fighters in the world." Quinton Jackson
"He is the BEST." - Mark Coleman
"The best in the world, no doubt." - Phil Baroni
"Look, I've fought many people from around the world, so I've seen many strong fighters. But like him, never." - Renato Sobral
"NOBODY wants to fight Fedor." - Wanderlei Silva
"Our great champion, he is the BEST in the world." - Josh Barnett
"Fedor has no equals in Sambo or MMA." - Aleksander Mikhailin
"Fedor would be absolutely great in K-1." - Ernesto Hoost
"Fedor has no weakness! I have seen so many fights, and even the best fighters in the world have a flaw in their game but I have yet to find one in Fedor Emelianenko." - Bas Rutten
"Probably the best ever lived....he's a living legend right now and I don't think there's a man on this planet who can beat him; the man is unreal. Pound for pound the best in the world." - Diego Sanchez
"Fedor is my favorite." - BJ Penn
"Fedor is the most incredible fighter you'll ever see." - Frank Trigg
"Fedor is a machine." - Don Frye
"The best fighter to climb into ANY arena is Emelianenko fedor. He is in his own league and you can't compare nobody." - Kevin Randleman
"Fedor is just too dominant, too good at punching people in the face. The way he punches people man he's trying to kill people, with both hands. He's in a whole different class by himself." - Brandon Vera
"He is the best and undefeated... His striking game and his ground game is the best, so that's why he is the best... He is the sh*t " - Mark Hunt
"He's the total package; looks can be deceiving. He's incredibly strong, his hips are amazing, probably his best asset. Hard to hold down, hard to do anything with the guy.........**** he's just the best, that's why he's the best. He gets in position to throw the big bombs, he throws just as hard on the ground as he does on the feet. That's why he's the world Champion." - Mark Coleman
-"He's the fastest I've ever seen. Much faster than Mirko. And he's got a great reaction. Technically he may not have such a big advantage, but physically he is the fastest heavy guy in MMA history. He tries a punch, misses it, then immediately shoots again, Cro Cop for example didn't even see them coming. He must practise that a lot, because it's not easy to improvise that kind of thing. He is really with a good combination of styles, he can go from one art to the other, that's what makes him different." – Antonio Rodorigo Nogueira
"He has a fast eye, good for counter-attacking. And in every fight he shows up with something new under his sleeve. Against Filipovic he used a great clinch-strike combo: he'd go for the uchi-mata, quickly following with a powerful hook." - Pedro Rizzo
Liddell: 'I'll fight anyone, Silva? Yeah sure, Quinton Jackson? Sure, Randy Couture? Sure'
Reporter: 'What about Fedor Emelianenko?'
Liddell: '...Well if I'll have to...I'll fight him...if I have to'(sounding very uncomfortable)
when you have people like that saying he is the best, who are we to disagree

From what i have seen i think that the only two people who could qualify for that position are fedor and anderson silva,i like fedor because he is a complete fighter,he is good at both striking and grappling,he can fight you on the ground he can fight you while you stand, and he is extremely adaptable to situations, something very important in MMA,he is the perfect combination of strenght and power and i would love to see him fight in the UFC...anderson silva is just amazing to me,his muay thai skills are near perfect he is fast, he is strong,he has amazing reflexes and he can adapt to situations like no other fighter in his weight class, he faced some really tough competition and he proven himself over and over again so right now i would probably consider him the best pound for pound fighter in the world (fedor is the best heavy weight, but pound for pound i think silva is better)
Couture he is already legend,he doesn t have much to prove but i would love to see him fight fedor tha would be a great fight.

Active? I can give you a list of who I think are at that level, but as for picking ONE fighter, tough call...
George St. Pierre
Fedor Emlinko
B.J. Penn
Roger Huerta
Randy Couture.
The problem is, every one of these fighters has a fault or two that keep them from the top of the heap...
GSP-- When he's on, he's unbeatable, but his head gets in the way, and he's shown that he can be beaten.

Fedor--One of the greatest heavyweights in the game today, but until he competes in the UFC I don't think the can claim to be the best. Pride and other organizations' fighters have a pretty bad record when it comes to moving to the UFC, Quinton Jackson aside.

B.J. Penn -- Would be my number one pick if he'd just stay at one weight. The guy's a phenomenal athlete, and his skill is undeniable. The problem is, bouncing up and down, he weakens his legacy by logging losses to fighters he need not face. Pick a weight and stay there.

Roger Huerta -- The guy's just a monster in the ring. His only faults have been his relative lack of experience, and the level of competition he's faced so far. That went away at the TUF finale. Beating Clay Guida has put Huerta on my PfP list, and if he continues on this path, only the belt stands between him and my #1 pound for pound ranking.

Randy Couture -- The guy's an Icon. Honestly, if he gets to fight Fedor, and can beat him? He not only secures his place as the best Pound for Pound fighter in MMA, but to me also secures his place as the greatest of all time.

Not Fedor!!! Fedor is a bum scared to fight top competition. I just saw his match where he got taken down twice to a giant rookie in Japan.

A lot of people are saying Anderson Silva and I would have agreed before the DEC 29th UFC PPV. But in that card the Canadian Ninja absolutely dominated a hall of famer in his prime. And I mean GSP totally crushed, humiliated and probably retired Matt Hughes. And I was rooting for Matt.

So I say GSP is number 1!

BJ "The Prodigy" Penn - Fought at 155, 170, 185, and 205. He wins on a frequent enough occasion that you can rule luck out of the equation and the dexterity in his legs make him a different kind of grappler, a scary one.

Georges "Rush" St. Pierre - Amazing athlete, his mom and dad must have been like " lets make a super soldier". Has the instinct to compliment the natural talent. Still young.

Fedor - He's something else. I hate to jump on the Fedor bandwagon but its true... hes that good.

GSP is looking more and more to take over that slot if he continues to put forward performances like he did on the 29th.
But I don't think he's #1 yet.

Although Anderson Silva does have a resume that merits consideration I don't think you can give it to him until his match with Dan Henderson.

Dan Henderson needs to be considered too because of his two weight class belts and a win over #2 ranked heavyweight Nogiera.

My vote still goes to Fedor though. He is solid standing and on the ground and continually makes his opponents look outclassed when in the ring with him.

I consider it a toss up between Anderson Silva, and Fedor. Fedor is always doing well, but I think Silva has been on a steading road of improvement through every fight. He's getting really dominant.
It's an opinion though.
