For the past three months i have had a pain in my right leg likely in my Adductor muscle when stretching for splits, it is always the same muscle and in the same leg which is limiting to me to improve my split for greater flexibility when kicking.

I have rested it at one stage for four weeks by not training at all but the pain returned when i stretch for a split.

Would sport massage help at all? Any other advice?

I am thinking about learning aikido. I just don't know how effective it is going to be if I had to use it in a real life situation. Has anybody used aikido in a real situation? Or has anybody used any other form of martial art in a situation? Just interested to see just how effective martial arts really is in defending yourself for real.

I have taken some martial arts classes in the past and now I want to take it back up. I started with Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Kick Boxing and the Army's Hand to Hand Combat.
Now I want some thing a little more lethal, interesting and advanced. I have always liked NINJA. I live in Orlando, FL and I want to find a Ninjitsu class. Does any one know of any in the Central FL area?

i found this article, is this true? the part about born with talent

What makes the Wing Chun style so interesting is that one does not have to rely on physical build, but on a logical sequence of economic movements. Certainly speed is extremely important in fighting. However, no matter how hard one trains, how long one works to improve, there are always physical limitations. You can always meet someone faster than you. Some people are simply born with more talent. Wing Chun allows one the possibility of overcoming an opponent’s inherent superior speed by applying the principles of the art. Yip Man taught that in Wing Chun

i had my first pro mma fight 6/june/06, i wasnt nervous at all, i travelled 6-7 hours to get there hotel was paid for, this is where it gets a bit interesting, my so called mate asked me if i wanted my first cage fight i said yes as i was short on money, he told me i would get £400 win lose or draw, fair enough i agreed on way up it went down to £300 w,l,d, then when i got there he said i would only get 300 if i won and 200 if i lost, got me a bit peed off but hey 200 better in my pocket, got to the weight ins and this big dude steps on scales then they called my name this is the guy who i was fighting. my heart sank, i took this fight on 3 days notice for alot more money, and i thought i would be against some one similar to me. sorry i forgot to mention this guy is the current (uk) total combat middle weight champion.(his name is leslee 'HOLLYWOOD' ojugbana) is it just me or is my friend nasty. this is true story just look on sherdog type in his name and you will see, just dont laugh.

I have been taking ju-jitsu for several years and I am just a orange belt. I am a cop and while breaking up a fight one of the participants wouldn't stop and I was able to clamp a tight armlock on him. He screamed out in pain. Normally whenever cops subdue someone the onlookers always yell police brutality etc. Onlookers were heard saying why is he yelling. One guy even said to me why was he yelling. It insures compliance if applied right and it doesn't look like much. It certainly looks better for a cop to armlock someone than to punch, kick, or hit them with a baton. Anyone else out there have any similiar experiences?

I would like to hear everyones thoughts on BJJ. It seem to me that fighters have found a way to stop bjj guys dead in their tracks. Or at least slow them down.

I am not sure who first said this is but ....... " If you hit a BJJ black belt in the mouth real hard, they are now a brown belt, do it again and you got a purple belt"

I'm not saying bjj does not work, it works well. Its just not as dominating as it once was.

I thought it was one of the best martial arts movies to come out in recent years. It was horribly marketed though, the trailers made it look stupid but it wasn't at all.

I've beent aking wushu (chinese martial art) for some time now, and a friend wants to shoot a short fight scene with me and another friend who's pretty experienced. Our plan is to have the perfect blend of realistic and non-realistic things. For example, we're going to get punched FOR REAL (maybe put some padding in our gloves/hoodies/sweaters so we don't die) and get thrown into things that will break on contact. An example of non-realistic things would be doing flips, splits, and adding legit wushu techniques that would probably not be used too oftenly in real-life situations.
My question would be...for Asian martial arts fans, what would you MOST like to see in a short fight scene (low budget one at least done by young college kids)? Imagine the best fight sequence that you've ever seen. What would be in it?

That link is a vid of a pretty good example of a combo of reality and non-reality...if you like moon lee

What happened was is that he has some bad blood with this particular kid from another neighboring school. It was at a tournament where the schools in the local community compete. I don't know exactly what happened but apparantly some shoving went on between my son and this other guy. My son fell to the ground and when he got up he took a piece of wood that they use for breaking wood demos and he swung it so hard that he broke it in two pieces across the other kids head. I don't know if it's a particular wood that's made to break very easily or my son just hit him so hard that it broke in two.
Some people ran to grab hold of my son from behind and when somebody grabbed him he elbowed whoever was grabbing him in the face and that person fell to the ground. Apparantly the man he elbowed was one of the judges in the competition.
My son has been permantely banned from attending the school he goes to and any school in the area. We have criminal charges pending. Shall we get a lawyer?
