i had my first pro mma fight 6/june/06, i wasnt nervous at all, i travelled 6-7 hours to get there hotel was paid for, this is where it gets a bit interesting, my so called mate asked me if i wanted my first cage fight i said yes as i was short on money, he told me i would get £400 win lose or draw, fair enough i agreed on way up it went down to £300 w,l,d, then when i got there he said i would only get 300 if i won and 200 if i lost, got me a bit peed off but hey 200 better in my pocket, got to the weight ins and this big dude steps on scales then they called my name this is the guy who i was fighting. my heart sank, i took this fight on 3 days notice for alot more money, and i thought i would be against some one similar to me. sorry i forgot to mention this guy is the current (uk) total combat middle weight champion.(his name is leslee 'HOLLYWOOD' ojugbana) is it just me or is my friend nasty. this is true story just look on sherdog type in his name and you will see, just dont laugh.

This type of thing happens to fighters at the lower levels or who are just starting out in the amateurs or pros way more than what people realize. The fact that your friend had a hand in this I would certainly find disturbing. When a friend of mine who was also a promoter did a similar thing to me when I was first fighting I took him aside afterwords and told him I did him a favor once by going ahead and fighting but I would not do it again. He never did after that. As for the money thing this also happens a lot and if the card was sold out or the place full then I either got my money or I did not fight on that promoters card ever again. I would also tell them if I did not get my money I would tell every other sparring partner, and fighter that they had screwed me and would probably screw them. Promoters like that usually have harder times then filling their cards and they get a reputation for screwing fighters over and a fighter then knows that they take a chance when fighting on their cards. Sometimes I would back off of this if the place was only half full or there was bad weather that night so there is some give and take here. As you get more experience and more fights under your belt this will happen a little less except with smaller promoters. I certainly would be talking to my friend though and the next time he does it tell him he is getting into the ring because you aren't.

True or not. You took a fight on 3 days notice knowing anything about your opponant. that's either realy cocky or realy desperate for the money or image.
Ya if true your friend was using you in that he didn't tell you about the other fighter ahead of time. But as for the money he probably was telling what he thought he could get you then found out at the fight that he was wrong.
Eitherway you're the one who said yes under the circumstances you made the mistake not him.

did you fight the guy? If so then you should be listed as one of his opponants...

Not all friends are a bad influence. Sure, I had a 'friend' who me and my friends dumped and don't talk to her now because she was a bad influence. But my current friends aren't a bad influence. My dad loves my friends and welcomes then into the house. Not all friends are bad. I lend my friends money and they pay me back and they lend me money and I pay them back. Maybe your brothers friend was going to pay him back? But you can't stop your brother from having friends, and you can't stop him from bringing them in the house if your parents are fine with it. Personally, I think everyone needs at least 1 good friend in their life. Friends are life.

Next time ask more questions about who you're fighting. I hope you learned a lesson here. Your mate wasn't very nice, he took advantage of you. Don't trust him anymore.
