I think Seattle is going to have problems because they are to much into the future, they got rid of Allen and Rashard. It's going to be a long time until they are truley championship contendors. What if Kevin Durant doesn't turn out to be the great player that everyone expected him to be, that will ruin the Sonics franchise for years to come. Also the Celtics are only caring about the present, they have 3 superstars that are great, but they are all 30 or over. They only have a couple years of prime basketball left, after that theirs not much more they can offer. I think these are the mistakes that these 2 teams made.

Yeah, I believe you it's a gamble. But please take note that Seattle tried to get hold of Lewis. It's Lewis decision not to stay a Supersonic, they know the complications, specially their young GM, Presti (who I think is one shrewd man, two thums up!). Rashard like Ray Allen said won't stay with Seattle. That is what he did because he wants to play with another star. For the Boston side of things, the market demands that the Celtics take action NOW. Danny Ainge made the unthinkable to save his butt. You see Boston is a proud team, and they want to regain the foothold on the NBA. Yes these are hurried answers, but they need to take actions NOW.

I think you observation concerning Seattle is very astute. It's all a gamble anyway but losing Lewis in the process hurt them I believe. If Wilcox and Wilkins can have a great season respectively this will lessen the void left by these two quality players. Durrant must also remain healthy for Seattle to have a successful season and not generate a negative atmosphere for the Sonics. Either way, let's face it the Sonics had about as much chance of coming out of the powerful Western conference this year as the Lakers do this upcoming season. Having said all that, they have 82 games to prove me a liar. All the best to the Sonics and Lakers.

The Celtics should have a formidable starting 5. Garnett, Pierce and a healthy Allen is basically makes an "All Star" team. That having been said, to represent the East in the playoffs they will need to be able to go AT LEAST 7 or 8 deep in the playoffs. Without a quality bench they will be the Pheonix Suns "east" basically. I believe (as I have for the last 3 seasons) that the Bulls are the next big thing coming out of the East. Scott Skiles the retired gritty point guard turned NBA Head Coach has molded the Bulls in his own image, the hardworking underdogs that NEVER QUIT. Good Lord! If only 25 teams would "try" as hard as the Bulls do, I might even be able to watch the NBA every time it comes on.

Seattle: I dunno, man, they have Jeff Green and Kevin Durant, and Durant has proven he can play well. Have you seen the Olympic USA vs USA games? Sure, it's an exhibition/practice, but remember that NBA players are used to giving out all out effort whether in a real game or a practice one. Durant's been scoring well in those against really good defenders. You're right that maybe they should not have gotten rid of Rashard, but I think getting rid of Ray Allen for Jeff Green and more was a good idea.

Celtics: The thing is, Paul Pierce and KG are in their prime. Yes, they'll only last only 3 more years, but that's 3 years for them to attempt to get to a championship. Add in Ray Allen, and it's a bit scary. I mean, you have to understand, the Celtics haven't had a good team in a while. Caring about the present is what they need to do. With Ray Allen spreading out the defense, and KG in the post, who's going to be stopping Paul Pierce? He's been scoring well even though he's been double teamed constantly, so now with Allen and Garnett, he should flourish. Boston's been trying to rebuild for years, so this is their final product. Also, having these veterans on the team can help attract free agents to their team for less money than they would've taken otherwise. After all, Garnett wasn't willing to go to the Celtics when they had Paul Pierce and Al Jefferson.

No....there's no doubt Durant will turn out to be the great player that everyone expects him to be. Did you see he play during the USA Team's scrimage with each other. He made it look easy, he had like 22pts-5rebs but he did good and he was playing against all All-Stars in the NBA.

Dont worry about Celtic's 3 superstars being over 30yo. They each will be in the league another 5 or more years. KG will be in the league probably 10 more because he came in out of high school and he's in perfect condition, hasn't had any major injuries his whole career. I'll give Pierce about another 5-7 years and ill give Allen about 6-8 years. With these players i think the Celtics will win 1 or more Titles.

I think Seattle put themselves in a better position to win within the near future. Don't forget about Jeff Green and veteran acquisitions like Kurt Thomas and Wally's World.

Celts are in the east and Anything can happen but the mistake of the trade for them was TWO FUTURE FIRST ROUND PICKS. That's gonna suck.
