I'm planning on going out west this summer, and this is one of the things I want to do. Has anyone ever been canoeing or kayaking in this area before? Would you mind sharing your experiences? Any hints, suggestions before I go this coming summer? How long did you go? Where did you rent your equipment, or did you bring your own?

For now I'm more interested in just a relaxing trip instead of any rapids! Here's a link:

thanks!

In the spring our lake is fine but by August it's pretty shallow- 12'' at best. You can see logs and tree stumps.
I have heard a seadoo boat would be good but would they suck up debris? My friend had one and he kept sucking up stuff, spend more time at the marina then the lake! I heard they are better now though .We like to ski and wakeboard, of course tubing as well.

I was running my wave runner in the driveway and it started dumping oil all over the driveway. I cleaned it up with rags intitially and spread kitty litter over it for now. What can I use to thoroughly clean the concrete now?

I've heard it said that because of aerodynamic lift on the sail it is possible for a yacht to sail faster than the wind. I'm not asking if it is theoretically possible, but whether in your experience this is possible?

What weather/sea conditions, dangers, etc. should you be aware of? Have you personally experienced these dangers and if so, how should someone tackle them? Please also give place names wherever possible.

I have a softboard and transport it tied to the roof rack of my Explorer. As soon as the speed is 25 mph or higher, this horrible really loud buzzing noise appears. I have tried tying down the board nose, using a towel underneath the board, but nothing works. The surfboard itself is not moving but the noise is too much. I am using 2 regular surfboard ties (the good kind they give you at rental stores when you rent the board).

I've already asked this question, but I didn't get many answers, so I'm trying again.

I normally just wear boardshorts to the beach, but I've noticed a lot of people seem to have started wearing boarshorts with boxer shorts, and the waistband of them showing above the boardshorts. Does it look good or is it just stupid?

I am writing an essay about selfless acts. My family and I are avid lake rats. My selfless act is the fact that when a vessel is stranded we always tow them in, however, is it the law or just a kind thing to do? Thanks.

I am an okay swimmer but I've gone snorkelling a few times and can stay in the water for hours with fins and a snorkel. I have a strong kick with fins. I've only heard about rip currents on TV but should I be concerned even if I'm wearing fins and a snorkel or will I be alright?
