As in what did the refs allow him to do after the bird dropped the ball into a water. Did he have to play it as if the ball landed in the hazard and he had to drop or was he allowed a mulligan or a rehit?

Was the 1940's with Robert Trent Jones building huge tees, flat manicured fairways the start of the downfall in golf architecture? It was followed by the golf cart then equipment and balls?

Can American golf survive the high fees and pretty golf courses and get back to its Scottish roots?

Im trying to get better at making shorter putts that are just out of gimme range. On such putts say just beyond 3 ft do I still open and close the putter head or do I go straight back and straight through?

I have a bad hook with my lower degreed clubs (5,4,3 irons & 3,1 woods) and need some pointers to cure my hook. Although a few lessons would help to cure it i don't get on well with lessons because they try and change too much and i end up getting frustrated at not playing well and go back to my old techniques.

I already have a slightly faded swing and a faded stance to try and stop the hook but it doesnt always work and is terribly inconsistent.

Any pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated...

It would be nice to find a place that has available tee times without making one several days in advance.

I had quadruple bypass surgery this fall. I want to play golf this Spring. They do not use electric carts at the courses where I would play. How good do I need to get at the driving range before playing nine holes? I don't want to be an embarrassment. I was a caddy as a teenager and took lessons a couple of years ago but never had a chance to play.

Not every Pro golfer uses a Driver on every hole. Are long par 3's included ? Are these stats for driving distances misleading as they do not represent how far the pros actually hit the ball ?

For those who don't know Cheyenne has won many amateur tournaments and is one of the top female college golfers from what I've read. Unlike Michelle Wie, Tiger's niece knows how to win. Cheyenne has said that she'll turn pro after college.

She was taught by Earl Woods and seems to have the same mental
approach as Tiger Woods. She might not be as talented as Michelle
Wie, but since Golf is a mental game, I wouldn't be surprised if
she turns out to be better than the much hyped but mentally
weak and immature Michelle Wie.

What are your thoughts?

I know a 'birdie' is any shot under par, except for a hole in one (an 'eagle') and a bogey is any shot over par up to the third shot (triple bogey), but what are their origins?
And, heck, out of curiosity, where did do the origin's of golf lie, Scotland, England, where?

or is it something he has developed through intense mental training.
He keeps coming up with big shots and big putts under intense pressure,
that you have to wonder whether he possesses some mystical ability
to will things to happen.

I once read that Tiger's dad knew that Tiger had "it" when he competed
against a young Tiger in a putting contest. Tiger didn't want
to leave the putting green until he beat his dad. He said that
Tiger had an intense focus even at a very young age before all the
mental toughness training.

I have been playing golf for about 6 years now, and I've really been working on my game the last 2 years. I'm on the cusp of breaking into the 70's and trying to search for every little detail to help get me over the hump.

I've been told in the past that a softer ball would work better for me do to my swing speed (I'm usually between 95 & 100mph). I've heard that balls like the PRO V1 won't help my game, because I don't swing hard enough to compress them. Right now I'm hitting Precept Laddies. I have hit Callaway War Birds, Nike Juice, and Top Flight D2's. Hard to tell which went further because I've hit them at different times and my swing is better now and I have a new driver.

Is there any truth to this?

Most importantly, what ball/balls would work best for my swing speed (for maximum distance)?

Maybe I will get some in my stocking from Santa this year :)

Thanks,
JC
