Muhammad Ali is generally regarded by many as being the greatest Heavyweight Boxing Champion of all time. He became popular when television was able to make sports figures larger than life, as never before. Do the statistics of all the Heavyweight Boxing Champions over the years in comparison with their actual total number of fights, win / loss / knockout records support this view?

Finally, Ring Magazine has announced its awards for 2007. Floyd Mayweather was named ‘Fighter of the Year’ for the second time in his career. He was also named in 1998.

Israel Vazquez KO 6 Rafael Marquez II was named ‘Fight of the Year’.

Israel Vazquez – Rafael Marquez II, round number 3 was named ‘Round of the Year’.

Nonito Donaire KO 5 Vic Darchinyan was named ‘Knockout of the Year’.

Nonito Donaire KO 5 Vic Darchinyan was named ‘Upset of the Year’.

Paulie Malignaggi was named ‘Comeback Fighter of the Year’.

Floyd Mayweather – Oscar De La Hoya was named ‘Event of the Year’.

Now I disagree with one of these nominations and that is Floyd Mayweather Jr. being named fighter of the year. I believe that honor should have went to Miguel Cotto. Any other thoughts?

i think larry merchant hates black people. He is never happy when judah or mayweather win. Even when they pull off a great win. He was on Cottos side when judah was fighting him. before the mayweather-de la hoya fight he said "If i was a gambler i would put my money on Mayweather, but I would not be mad if I lost my money." He needs to do something about that

I have to ask this question I have seen many fights via television or internet and I have seen one-sided fights were one fighter was completely dominated by another fighter. So with that being said what is your choice for a one-sided dominated fight I have this choice for a fight:

Larry Holmes vs Randell Tex Cobb - This fight was VERY one-sided fight! It even made Howard Cosell quit comentating. Now that is very one-sided! Any other fights?
