He is very strong and a good fighter. If he were trained properly, it could be just the jolt boxing needs to bring back some of it's popularity. Just a thought.

Holmes was recently inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame. Looking back at his career how do u feel he ranks among the best? He had one of if not the best jab in boxing history. His right hand was devasting. 20 title defenses and the longest reign of any Heavyweight Champ He was only stopped once, by Tyson. He gave a prime Holyfield all he could handle. His war with Norton is legendary. And he was robbed (in my opinion) in the rematch with Spinks. Yes he fought alot of bums but he did beat alot of good young fighters. He could never shake the shadow of Ali and when he beat Ali got no credit for it. He had a big mouth like his comment about Marciano. And was his own worst enemy with the public and press. Whats your take on him?

For me, oscar won. that fight was so boring because mayweather made it boring. dats y there is not going to be a rematch. i rather see a match between oscar and shane again, or a pacquiao and marquez, but mayweather is too scared to fight punch for punch... dats why he is not the top, and will not go on my top 20 list of best boxers.

BUT DID HE SEEM TO ACT A LITTLE FUNNY OR ACT A BIT STRANGE AFTER THE MATCH WHEN MAYWEATHER KIND OF GRABBED HIM AND TOOK A PICTURE WITH HIM. IT SEEMED LIKE HE WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY PART OF CELEBRATIONS WITH FLOYD AS IF MAYBE THEY WERE IN CAHOOTS ABOUT SOMETHING. CORTEZ JUST HAD THIS DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS LOOK. DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT.

Marchant: What do you call that?

Mayweather: I call that the CHECK HOOK, The CHECK HOOK, I call that the CHECK HOOK, you can learn that from the old legendary trainers in Michigan"

Now this hook involves swinging so hard that your opponent gets knocked out twice i.e. one via punch and the other the turnbuckle. hahaha.

You have to admit that was one of the funniest knockdowns and has to be candidate for knockdown of the year. I'm not just laughing cause it was Hatton, hell if it was me, I'd be embarrased but when I recover my senses, I'd be laughing at that for days.

I mean it's one thing to get knocked through the ropes but to be KO'd by a punch and the turnbuckle...DAMNNNNN thats on another level.hahaha

So shall we make it the new name people? :D

Does that check-hook belong in the pantheon of "perfect punches" such as Robinson-Fullmer and Foreman-Moorer? And if not, what are some better examples of "perfect punches" that a won fights.

In 1910 former heavyweight champion James J. Jeffries came out of retirement and said, "I am going into this fight for the sole purpose of proving that a white man is better than a *****." He was soundly defeated by Jack Johnson. A Black man who was demonised and imprisoned because he had relationships with white women.

What has changed in boxing since then? Well the exploitaion of blacks is still there but it's often financial scams that leave them penniless at the end of their careers (look at Tyson a recent example robbed left right and centre by white men).

Today, they dont call a fight between black and white a 'race fight' but we all know it is just that. Ricky hatton was supposed to beat Mayweather because as James J. Jeffries said proudly - he believed that the white man was better than the *****. Unfortunately, this lie was exposed again last night in Vegas as it was 100 years ago by Johnson in Reno.
