He is very strong and a good fighter. If he were trained properly, it could be just the jolt boxing needs to bring back some of it's popularity. Just a thought.

The world of boxing would happily take in Kimbo if he did okay. They take anyone in after all.

The question is why didn't kimbo try out for boxing a long time ago? Or now?

The answer is while his hand skills are picking up a little from training with rutten he is still low level for a boxer, and its too much ground to cover if you start well after your 20's.

In that street fighting footage you can see he has had a few boxing lessons, enough to beat the average bum. But he is really beginner level there-holds his arms chicken wings stomach exposed, no rotation on shoulders or hips/loses half his punching power.

kimbo actually has boxing skills, thats not a street fighter you see out there, he is someone who at some time has been trained. You can tell by the way he moves. His head movement and footwork, the way he holds his hands, keeps his chin tuckets, throws body shots, thats not **** a street fighter does. His cousin is Emanuel Augustus, who was an amazing fighter to watch. He also may of been one of the most screwed over fighters in boxing history. You may remember him for his "drunker master style", or his wars with Micky Ward.

Kimbo is no where near good enough to be a professional boxer, plus boxing is not a sport you can come into late. MMA on the other hand doesnt require the same amount of stamina, reflexes, or speed. And quitting is acceptable. Much better sport for someone who is old and who has little professional fighting experience. In MMA you DONT have to be great at anything, but you need to be good at two things. Therefore he can quickly learn the grappling basics and already has enough striking ability.

I actually believe kimbo can do very well in MMA. Hes big, strong, has better boxing skills then any mma fighters, and he fights aggressive. I think he will beat many of the top fighters.

Do you realize how much skill is required to actually get in a boxing ring and fight using the Marques of Kinsbury Rules for 10 or 12 rounds? It takes a LOT.

Kimbo is a novelty. He's not a real boxer, and he probably never could be. Actually putting on 12 or 16 ounce gloves and going into the ring to block, jab, and dance for 12 rounds is not something someone can just decide to do one day. Boxers train for years to perfect their art. Sure, Kimbo could knock out some lower quality fighters, but he could never stand in with one of boxing's elite. It takes a lot more than just a stong punch to be a top class fighter.

Kimbo does have the chance to be suceed in the world of MMA. I think he's much better suited for that type of fight.

Though I disagree that Kimbo Slice is a sideshow, I don't think that Kimbo will do well in boxing. Boxing as a lot of rules that won't compliment Kimbo's fighting style.

However, the wonderful world of MMA HAS embraced Kimbo, and he has had 2 televised fights so far, AND WON!

he trains with Bas Rutten, a very prominent name in the world of MMA.

Because he's a joke. He will lose to the first D level MMA fighter he fights (wait....he already did, Sean Gannon). Seriously, he beat a 47 year old Ray Mercer by submission. Why? Because he couldn't stand with him. Then, he beat Bo Cantrell in the most obviously rigged fight ever. Bo took one punch, then dove for the canvas and tapped out. Kimbo just sucks.

I don't even know how to respond to a Q like this. From time to time, guys like Slice get into the ring thinking they can make some easy money "because they never lost a bar fight". Then they get blasted in 2 rounds against a prelim fighter with a 4-2 record.

Only if it is bareknuckle... Just kidding...Kimbo is smart, he himself know that he can't win against a boxer, that is why he immediately went to the ground when he fought Ray Mercer. He won't risk standing up and trade with Ray, even that Ray was way past his prime.
