im sorry but no, prince & woody up there was right....we can only give floyd the credit for being the best fighter because there's no one else....yes he is smart, he is good but he is not the greatest. it would be a mistake in boxing history to make him one of the greatest, his record aint that impressive...much because of the way he finishes the fight...by decision, which in my opinion will give impression that some of the win might be a fluke (ive seen the delahoya fight...& i say its a fluke). people will always give a benefit of a doubt to a person such as floyd, they will only see the best things in him but cannot identify the bad things when he's "performing". on the contrary, i think Jones Jr. should be considered among the greatest, unlike floyd....Jones Jr. hopped on heavier division to find worthy opponents and probably to test his skills, whereas floyd hopped onto divisions where there are only guys he could beat. c'mon...theres no one else in welter that can compete although some of them are champs, unlike the days of sugar, duran , hearns & hagler...too much superstars during that era... & i say they're the best if not the greatest in that weight class. one more thing guys....record isnt everything, the fighting spirit, the heart counts more.

I don't think this should be considered until Mayweather is done in the ring. As boxing fans, we all know that ANYTHING can happen in the ring and as long as he steps in he is just as vulnerable to a knockout as anyone else.

Is he the best boxer in boxing today? His numbers say so but he hasn't fought everyone possible yet. You never know, Cotto may ring his bell. Should he be considered to be one of the greatest? At this point, no, as this shouldn't even be talked about until he actually hangs up his gloves.

I must admit i'm a mayweather "hater" but after the fight vs. hatton even i had to give him some props, however, one of the greatest boxers of all time ??...certainly....but not nowhere the top 15....he fought a de la hoya who was out of his prime, the castillo match in my eyes he lost, the only way he has a chance at top 10 all-time, is if he beats both williams and cotto...and that's still a maybe.....

Well, I think some media were considering Roy Jones amongst boxing's greatest, until he had a crash landing into Antonio Tarver's fist. So why should Mayweather be any different? Whether you or I consider him among the greats is another story. With that being said, he deserves to be brought up by others in talks about his greatness.

should floyd be considered one of the greatest of all time. he already is. after the hatton fight sugar ray Leonard and Tommy hearns both gave him his props and told him hes the best of this era. hes legacy is already complete and wrote. if Floyd fights anymore its for the sport and trying to push his self to be the greatest of all time. right now hes right on side of Marciano as the greatest undefeated fighter. hes also going down next to Leonard far as skills. with about two more victories over worthy opponents like cotto and a Paul Williams and become undisputed champion without a doubt he would be the greatest fighter of all time. when you look up boxing in the dictionary or encyclopedia you would see Floyd mayweather Jr.s name defining the sport of boxing. showing young kids what benifits you get form having the complete package of defense, speed, power, offense, and ring dominants. being able to beat an opponent at his own style is how you become the best at the sport of boxing.

He deserves to be compared. And while he's beaten most of the top guys of his era, he doesn't have a big win over any all-timers like a Leonard, Hagler, Robinson, Whitaker, Chavez, ect. You can only rank a guy so high if all he does it beat good fighters. Not Mayweather's fault, mind you, but I need to see strength of schedule and convincing wins in order to classify for the "greatest ever" category.

I'd say yes. You got people that may argue that he does not have a record like the old fighters (who had hundreds of fights) so that he doesn't deserve it. But things change. Fighters aren't allowed to fight as frequently as they used to. The point is Floyd has beat the best around him what more can you ask of him. Well I'd ask him to fight Cotto, but if Floyd were to retire today he is definetly of the best of all time.

Manny Pacquiao is a guy of few words. he's palms do the speaking. Whlie fraud shamelessly self publicizes. it somewhat is somewhat a huge enable down on floyd's delight to be 2nd value to every physique. Floyd's Poem... BOW Mayweather followers are dumb and few. each and every thing you assert will backfire on you. Floyd is on roids, as all of us's instructed. i'm hoping he gets keloids until he gets previous. His mouth is grimy and his kin too. in case you have faith what he says... then so are you.

Yes, he is top 40 of all time, so he is one of the greatest, but not among the very elite guys like Robinson, Greb, Armstrong, Ali, Pep, Duran, Leonard, Hagler, etc.

The guy who said he is by far the best and better than Leonard is beyond a joke. He actually said "watch Leonard on Youtube, Floyd takes the piss out of them all". LMAO.

Leonard had everything better than Floyd other than defense. And my God, who the hell is rating these answers?

no. but he is very good.

People like Marvelous Marvin hagler and sugar ray leornard and roberto duran and Hearns were much better in his weight division.

The heavy weight division today is just a bunch of pretenders. the cream of the crop was Ali...and in a different way, Mike Tyson. I think that Lennox Lewis was a great fighter.
