this is the biggest question in boxing. Ive argued over it soooo many times its insane. There is not right or wrong answer, but i think technically mike tyson is much better and his power and defense and handspeed in his prime has never and will never been seen again. Tyson was unbeatable in his prime, we saw him fight all types of much taller fighters who tried everything in the boxing handbook, and they all got KO,ed and most of them very early in the fight. Its a very hard thing to KO professional fighters at the pace Tyson did it. And in his prime Tyson had no problem going late in rounds.
Ali was great but he had many defensive weaknesses. Often left his chin up while backing up. He hand very fast hands too, but i dont think they were faster or even half as powerful as tysons. Many people think of mikes power but they dont realize that he had the handspeed of a middleweight. Which is why he was able to land his punches so consistently.
On the other hand, tyson was never strong mentally. And who else can get into a person's head better then Ali?

Really it would be a toss up.
Ali is great but Iron Mike in his Prime could take out anyone with one Punch. And Mike wasn't just a big bruiser. He had quick, Accurte hands. Along with the power.
The Rope a' Dope wouldn't work on Tyson either
If Ali would work the jab and stay outside of the Reach of Tyson then he would have a chance, which he most likely would have done
but if he slipped up and came into the reach of Tyson he would get mauled

it would be a close fight no question about that Ali has pace speed and could out smart him Tyson is a power fighter so it would only take a second for him to knock Ali out but i think with Ali's speed Tyson wouldn't get the Chance to get that big KO punch in so i would go Ali plus i like Ali Tyson is a bit of a thug

Its a question I have asked on this and to myself many times.
I think Ali could have won if he worked the jab constantly and kept moving, doing his footwork and a little more head-movement than he usually done because Tyson would have the ability to knock him out in one punch.
Tyson could just as easily win but he would have to went in with the frame of mind that if he didn't knock out Ali he would die. Because if the match went the distance Ali would have won,he would have threw less but have been more accurate,Tyson would have expended energy on missing and in the later rounds tired, maybe even leading to a KO for Ali.
So to answer your question either fighter could win it,it just depends how it would go on the night!!!

Ali. He would win in the first round. Tyson was extremely strong but not graceful..more of a brawler. Ali could take a punch, was much faster and had a greater reach. Ali was also much more disciplined
