The fact of the matter is that no player that could have been traded for at the deadline would’ve turned the Yankees into a World Series team. I consider the Yankees trade deadline winners because they resisted the urge to once again trade away what ever young talent is in their farm system for some aging, slightly above-average position player. They've done that the last few years and look what it's left them with: an aging team that can't get past the first round of the playoffs and a completely depleted farm system. If anything I think the Yanks should have looked to trade Abreu or Damon or any other over-the-hill position player for a prospect with some sort of potential. But not doing the opposite, in my opinion, was smart.

Ive noticed it seems college fans are more passionate and loyal to their teams. College football's rivalries are also way, way more emotional because the teams literally hate each other and their fans hate each other.

I know this Cause im a FSU fan and I cant Stand Gators or Canes, but mostly Gay-tors those arrogant Pricks....

Anyways as u can see those games seem to have much more venom than pro rivalries like Greenbay vs. Minnesota.

Also lok at the fan bases Michigan had like a 107,000 person stadium which is huge I dont know what the biggest pro stadum is but I can bet you its below 90,000.

So whats you opinion?

OK, I'm in a 10 team league & I drew the 10th pick. Our scoring is the usual for RB & WR, but we increased QB scoring last year, giving only -1 per INT & 1 pt. per 20 pass yards, which made QB's the top scorers as a group by far. This year we are increasing starting positions to 3 WR's & 2 QB's (2 RB' the same.) Assuming the 7 top-tier RB's are gone, would it be crazy to pick QB's with picks 10 & 11? Keep in mind I have the 2nd pick of the 3rd round (don't ask, we do some crazy stuff.) Does it matter if Peyton still happens to be there (though I cna't imagine that happening)? Or should I go 2nd tier RB & QB?

Now that Gange has been traded to the Red Sox, who will be closer for them? Gange or Papelbon?

I have Papelbon in one of my leagues and I am wondering if I should try to trade him now, because he might be spiltting closing time with Gange, meaning that he won't get as many saves.

So who will be the Red Sox closer? And should I try to trade Papelbon ASAP?

Thanks!

The Mariners, who lost out on all of the pitching that interested them, had their final pre-trading deadline talk not about a pitcher by about an infielder.

Seattle came very close to getting the Astros to part with Mark Loretta, sources say.

General manager Bill Bavasi said the club was close on landing a position player just before time expired. He wouldn't be more specific, but it was learned later that Loretta was the player the Mariners were trying to pry loose.

It was going to be a sweet deal if it went through, because the Mariners weren't having to give up any minor leaguers they consider their top eschlon.

He's primarily known as a second baseman, but he's played three dozen games both at short and second this year in addition to 18 games at first and third. He's hitting .294, just four points under his career batting average.

Whats up with that? Where would Loretta even fit? We have the best defensive MI and great corners, Not to mention Vidro's been great! Ugh Bavasi...

Apparently some unhappy soul is perturbed by Touzours wide lead over her rival, so I got reported. However, since she was leading at the time of suspension, she is deemed the winner.
There will be a re-vote for the other tie, plus a further 2.

Baseball Players are Cowards.

Team sports require fidelity, to the sports and players owe it to each other.

This whole thing about Bonds would go away, if a current or recently retired player spoke out like Canseco has.

Steroids in baseball was like speeding on the highway, many or most people were doing it, b/c they knew they couldn't get caught.

This would all go away and this would just go down as the Era of Performance enhancers.

How does going back in time to find out if ONE PLAYER was doing it going to help the game, it would serve baseball better to investigate everyone or no-one.

Selective prosecution is not what this country is supposed to be about.
