I will also have to choose Chad Pennington, but not because I am a Jets fan (which I am), or that Chad is a GREAT QB.
I choose Pennington simply because he is the lesser of the two evils in this question.
I will whole-heartedly disagree with the person who put Chad in the same sentence as Peyton Manning and Tom Brady...that's ridiculous. Another person who said that Chad shows poise in all situations is also being biased. Every Jets fan cringes with horror EVERY single time the defence breaks through the O-line, because it is then that Chad freezes like a deer in headlights, and crumples to the ground, ususally in agony with a shoulder injury.
Again, I only pick Pennington here because I have no other choices...and this is from a Jets fan.

Chad Pennington......I like Eli Manning but Pennington is more of a complete QB right now........Plus hes the total comeback kid with those two shoulder injuries and coming back........I thought he played very well last season and I was so hoping the Jets would have sent the pats home earlier in the playoffs.......I think Eli Manning would be better off he didn't have an ****** for a coach......

If I were looking for a future QB I'd go with Eli. No health problems, a better arm, more upside. Sure, Eli has no spine or composure but that could come a couple years down the road. On the other hand, Pennington, a couple years down the road, will probably be sitting out the season with another shoulder surgery that will render him unable to throw the ball past the line of scrimmage.

Chad Pennington is definitely the more poised of the two QB's and I think he is also better at getting the players around him to perform. You just never get that feeling about Eli. Also. Eli always has that dumb look on his face when something goes wrong while Pennington seems to exude confidences regardless of the situation

Chad Pennington hands down. If only he could stay healthy. I think that next to Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, there isn't any other QB who knows as much about the game than Chad.

Chad Pennington because he always has a great completion percentage and he makes few mistakes that will hurt your team hes not great, but he wont hurt your team with mistakes like Eli will.

to the guy above me asserting peyton is whiny, you're a moron. he's by no skill complaining to refs approximately calls and a minimum of he's not slightly pooswa that calls roughing the passer effects for the ref on each occasion somebody gets interior of five feet of his knee. Peyton Manning is hands down the main suitable QB interior the activity. call another QB who instructions the sphere as properly as he does. he's the organic definition of a field ordinary. The colts does no longer be almost the group they're without him, consisting of if brady or brees have been on the group. no person is as consistent as Manning, no person throws a greater suited ball than Manning, no person has greater suited verbal substitute along with his receivers, and no person has ever labored as difficult as Peyton does. Peyton Manning is the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning is the NFL. Brees is a huge quarterback, yet he's not the biggest reason the Saints are stable now: before their protection became into more suitable, they have been a mediocre group at maximum suitable. Brady has constantly has a competent protection at the back of him, something Manning and Brees have not constantly had. Now that the Pats d isn't that stable, you spot that they are suffering. Roethlisberger does not belong interior the comparable type as those 3 and not even the insane steelers followers could argue that he does if his protection hadn't gained 2 great bowls for him.

Flip a coin. One is inconsistent as hell and the other spends more time rehabbing his bum shoulder than playing. If I HAD to start one over the other on Sundays, it would be Pennington. He's a lot more consistent than E. Manning.

While I am a tried and true Blue Giants fan I have to go with Chad. He's proven himself to be a competent QB. Eli still has alot to learn. He keeps expecting to turn into his big brother overnight, but it takes time, patience, and skill to be like Peyton.
I'd go with Chad, experience and a healthy front line will help him be a better passer with a higher completion percentage this season.
