I always loathe making these lists because it always involves so many factors that are impossible to determine. On top of that you have to determine position value and take into account that on certain teams that value changes, and you have to know how valuable a player is inside their own position. Legitimate lists could be made that are almost entirely quarterbacks, some could include mostly just defensive players. Are we talking about career value or predicting value heading into next season? It's all too much for me, I prefer to just rank inside positions, but here goes. In no particular order (why complicate things even more?) Adrien Peterson- The best running back in the game today, he's such an elusive and talented back who could perform even without the presence of an O-line. Tom Brady- although he may be getting old and his success may not continue for much longer, it would be a crime to not include the season MVP on this list. Nnamdi Asomugha- effectively eliminate one man from an offense, NOBODY can through on him, absolutely no one. Andre Johnson- only 2 receivers in the history of the game have put together back-to-back 1,500 yard seasons. I think we can all guess the first one, but Andre Johnson is still playing in the league today. Aaron Rodgers- is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league in literally every category you can rank a quarterback. He's among the best in rushing, red zone threats, 3rd down conversions, TD:Int ratio, accuracy, arm strength, etc., etc., etc. He's as complete a quarterback as you will ever find. Patrick Willis- obviously some extremely brilliant scientist found a way to clone Ray Lewis and reinsert him into the NFL, because that's the only explanation for such an extremely talented linebacker. Peyton Manning- we all know who the real offensive coordinator in Indianapolis is. Peyton Manning calls 90% of his own plays and carries them out as one of the best quarterbacks the league has ever seen. Larry Fitzgerald -he's been in the top 3 receivers in practically every receiving category every year for a very VERY long time. You can pretty much accredit to Fitzy every accomplishment of the Cardinals offense Troy Polamalu- before Polamalu and Ed Reed safeties were an afterthought in secondaries and considered one of the less important positions in the game. Can't say the same anymore. Polamalu does everything a defensive player can do: pass rush, tackle, stuff the run, and lock down receivers. Clay Matthews III- alright, I know Ware is an incredible player, but when given two elite level pass rusher who terrorize the quarterback better than most in the NFL history I have to go with the younger guy. He's an animal of a pass rush and you will NEVER see him miss a tackle.

Honestly don't think I could name 10 of all time. Have to wonder about the people who don't put Rod Woodson on though, he made the 75th Anniversary team WHILE ACTIVE(most were retired if I remember correctly). I believe he was the first to play in the same season he tore his ACL(tore it in Week one and was finally allowed to play in the Superbowl, although basically cleared for the AFC Championship game).
Of course you have the ORIGINAL and ONLY LT-Lawerence Taylor
The Minister of Defense Reggie White.

Past that I've only been watching since about the late 90s and so not going to name too many.
