The connection with the teams is so much deeper in college sports. It is easy to really invest in a team when they represent the school you attended. There's such a nostalgia factor when watching your alma matter play that makes the games that much more relevant.
In pro sports, it is harder to have that connection. There are many reasons to favor a pro team (live in or around the city they are based in, you really like one of the players, the team has a history of winning, etc.), but none are as valid as the connection a person has with the school where they spent some of the best days of their lives.

I prefer the college game - not to say that I don't watch NFL games because I do. I just feel like College games are more exciting. They definitely mean more because of the rivalries and the penalty for losing games. In the NCAA, a couple of losses knock you out of championship contention. In the NFL, you can lose 4, 5, even 6 games and still win the championship at the end of the season. I also feel like there are too many paycheck players in the NFL that are less passionate.

Hey i agree with you there, i think college football is more popular than ever especially for me anyway. I'm a pro football too but i find college is more interesting, especially the polls went it come out we can debate all the times, which team deserved the ranking, which team don't. It's like the debat is none stop, about this about that, the subject is never ending. The Pro team is pretty much steady with theirs plays but college is unpredictable went a team can score 4 TD's in a single period and you can find a teams that can score 4 TD's in a single period every weekend. Then you have the college fans get into theirs team is better than the rivals. And the overall atmosphere is better in college than the pro. Now that's just my opinion.

College Football to me is the better game. Better rivalries, better stadium atmosphere, better traditions...NFL over the years has turned into the "whatever's good for ME league." A bunch of overpaid individuals (owners, coaches, and players) that seem to have lost the love of the game. I watch football on Saturday AND Sunday, and just find that these college kids play harder and have more respect and pride in their school and their teammates and the game.

College has a different attachment because so many actually WENT to those schools. Most football players will never even reach a training camp of the NFL teams...
Also, college football has a collectively younger and more energetic fanbase (college students).
The NFL has the best players however...

First of all no sport beats the NFl, but college football draws a lot of fans to, mostly alumni of schools, and collge has a more exciting stadium atmosphere due to traditions, but if you compare the level of play on the field, the NFL better.

NFL is by far much greater than college. Until division 1 actually has a playoff and can crown a real national champion, the college game for me will be low on my priority.

With all the hype that goes with prof. football the American people are pretty much getting tired of it. You don't really want your kid to idolize someone who's been arrested 5 times on account of drug possesion. That's why college ball is becoming more popular, it's simple and no all hyped up.

They go to the NFL and get paid or try out for the CFL or Arena football. If that does not work, they have to find a job elsewhere.
