I have heard because of the Immanuel Passage in Matthew and Isaiah it makes scholars questions whether or not Mary was really a virgin? Why?

I have a muslim friend in prison that writes me weekly, and lately he wants to try and convince me that I need to become muslim too because it's "the truth". Every letter since Thanksgiving ends with a plea for me to recite the shahada (and yes he includes it in it's entirety...in both Arabic and English) yet I have never once asked him to embrace Atheism, or consider *my* truth, that there IS no "god" or no prophet of said delusion.

I have been friends with this person since middle school, and have been in touch with him since his incarceration 6 years ago. He discovered Islam while in prison, and before then, he was a staunch Atheist, even more hardcore Atheist than myself. I don't want to split ways over our differences because I know I am one of his lifelines since his family pretty much disowned him...but I don't appreciate being evangelized to either, irregardless of his crimes.

What can I do?

If you asked Jesus to reveal himself to you if he were real, and he did , how do you lose in that deal?
Because if he responds and is real , hell and eternity are real too.
Why won't people make the simple challenge ? With so much at stake.

That's because it is a Jewish book, and that's what the Jews call it. Christians don't get to just storm in and rename whatever they want.
For further example, there never were such things as "pagans." There are good people who worshipped the Egyptian religion, the Greek religion, the Celtic religion and the Scandanavian religion. They were not the same thing and are not to be grouped together under some label that a bunch of fanatics assigned to them.

I'm using spirituality in the most secular sense possible, in that there are no spirits involved, just reflection, introspection, and pondering the universe and our place in it.

Having freed ourselves from the religious framework it opens the way for much more profound philosophies. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking about all the improbable things that had to happen to make the world what it is today. And here we are, riding this terrestrial spaceship together, wasting our short time here hating each other and being jealous, instead spreading love and happiness. Why? It's so foolish. Will humanity ever make it to the stars? Will we ever learn to be truly egalitarian? Will we ever get over ourselves and just be?

I know other atheists think about these things, and I think many theists assume we never think about these things. What can we do to help convey to them that we are spiritual people, and that spirituality (remember how I'm using it) and truth don't have to be incompatible?

How can you fear God and Love God at the same time? Do you say you love God because if you dont you fear Gods "rath"? If so is that truly love?

Since atheists need proof for everything...do atheists have proof that there is no God?

Atheist, is your goal to "end all religion" or is to ensure freedom of ALL religion? As in are you trying to put a "stop" to Christianity" (not in govt but in everyday life) or are you trying to equalize ALL faiths?

i'm just curious. what situation made you tell yourself that there couldnt possibly be a God? was it a build-up of disasters in your life (or in others')? was it the overview of the world and how much chaos it contains? or was it a science thing? if so, what exactly?

i promise i am not trying to challenge atheists or make anybody angry! i just really wanna know.

"God", the ethereal, invisible being that is everywhere at all times not only wrestled with Jacob, but injured his hip. Amazing.

the origin of the universe. The big bang theory is one that aethists most gravitate towards. If this is your theory, then where did the original object (cell, nucleus, atom, proton, whatever) come from? If "matter" is your proof source, where did the orignal "matter" come from?

This would make a beautiful coin, to which no possible citizen could object. This would relieve us from the ignominy of heathenism. This would place us openly under the Divine protection we have personally claimed. From my hearth I have felt our national shame in disowning God as not the least of our present national disasters.

To you first I address a subject that must be agitated.

I got curious after reading a question just now. Here's the source, but what is wrong with the argument?

Why do christians insist that they are constantly being critisized and "discriminated" against by atheists when they themselves critisize and discriminate everyone that doesn't see things their way? Is it possible in the small unopen minds of a christian to consider the fact that they are no better that the extremist muslims? Maybe not so much violently now as in the past, but do any of you remember learning about the crusades? Just curious to see what kind of responses I can get. And NO I am not attacking christians "morals" or whatever. I just want to see what kind of wierdos are out there. LOL!

people got stoned to death, pressed, hung and burned at the stake?
Or more recently, a woman was threatened with death because of a teddy bear. What...we haven't learned from our mistakes?
I don't care if you believe in god. I don't care if you worship a pencil. Just don't bring it into the govt. That's what freedom is for. Have we not learned?
