Why do christians insist that they are constantly being critisized and "discriminated" against by atheists when they themselves critisize and discriminate everyone that doesn't see things their way? Is it possible in the small unopen minds of a christian to consider the fact that they are no better that the extremist muslims? Maybe not so much violently now as in the past, but do any of you remember learning about the crusades? Just curious to see what kind of responses I can get. And NO I am not attacking christians "morals" or whatever. I just want to see what kind of wierdos are out there. LOL!

One more thing, this is more for the super duper christians, I have no beef with anyone that doesn't try to push their belief on me.

One more verification: I mean small minded as in my mother who asks me why I believe what I do and feel the way I do but when I try to answer she either preaches "jesus loves you" or wants to change the subject

I am sure they will vehemently defend their god-given duty to convert us all to their way, the old "turn or burn" stuff. Or else they'll deny your claims. Moderate christians, like moderate muslims, are probably in the majority, but it's a mostly silent majority. It's always the extremist weirdos who are most vocal.
And I am so glad you used the word extremist and didn't lump all muslims into the same category. You'll never see a (moderate) muslim come door-knocking or threaten you with hell if you don't convert.

Let's see, you've accused us of "small unopen minds," accused the whole group of us of criticizing and discrimitating against "everyone that doesn't see things their way," compared the ENTIRE group of us to "extremist muslims" (while giving the muslims the benefit of the concession that yes, some are extremist and some are not), and called us weirdos. This is pretty inflammatory, so I'm sure you probably aren't really looking for an answer, except maybe to do some more name-calling; but I guess I feel like responding anyway.
Just as in any group, among people who call themselves Christians you have some that are and some that aren't. Those that are follow Christ, and and they do fall short because they are not Christ. As for myself, I am open to any discussion, and always try to do so without criticizing or discriminating. I have, by the way, never killed anyone - nor do I condone the act - whether in the name of God, allah, or whatever. I don't know a whole lot about the crusades, to be honest; but again, I don't condone killing in the name of God. I didn't see Jesus kill anyone. Galatians 5:14 says "The entire law is summed up in a single command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself'." We are called to love God and love others. When individuals fall short, then call the individual to account, not the group. As far as being a weirdo, well I've been accused of worse, so my feelings don't get hurt about that. But I do want to point out that your 'question' is insulting, critical, and generalizing. But if you get enough responses from "weirdos" out there, perhaps it will be all worthwhile.

I think you are being too general in your statement not all Christians discriminate and not all Christians feel constantly attacked. I think you kind of exaggerated. Why describe the christian mind as small and unopened? What atheist *****! lol. I'm not attacking atheists or the person that posted this question or whatever. I just want to be just another weirdo out here.

Contrary to the rumour that all the women on YA are old hags..I was not at the Crusades, nor was I at the inquisition. If you look at world history you will find that EVERY group was barbaric..Pagans, Catholic, Protestants.. We hacked and burnt and tortured each other. Some how we have managed to create FREE countries with civil liberties that are protected by The Constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
If we do not learn tolerance we are doomed as nations! tolerance is not adequate as a final goal. I would like to see a world in which people are interested in, and value, religions other than their own -- where religious diversity is regarded as a positive factor, even if it is not religion but Atheism.

Well I think that you're really referring to the more radical Christians, like the ones who don't want anyone to go see The Golden Compass because the author was atheist, and the ones who burn Harry potter books. I really don't know why they are like this; they could just be so dead set in their ways and so stubborn that they wouldn't even let the thoughts of anything else in. I'm a Christian and this annoys me that some people do take this so seriously. They breathe things into things that aren't actually there. They might just want everyone to believe what they believe because they believe that that's how they would achieve the best quality of life, or maybe they just don't want to admit that they're wrong. And for the record, I , being a Christian, think that religious wars are stupid, and that we should all just let everyone believe hat they want, but not everyone feels that way.

Both sides are going at it, and will probably continue for quite some time. Of course that occurs here, on a RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY SECTION.
It's the RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY SECTION, Atheists keep telling me that they do not have a religion. And sometimes one gets all bent out of shape because everyone isn't laying down and taking their crap, like you are. So either cowboy up or it's just to hot here for sensitive, whining Atheists who think that they know there's no God when they cannot possibly know such a thing.
If Atheists were honest people, they would at least call themselves Agnostics - WHICH MEANS THEY DON'T KNOW, WHICH IS THE ACTUAL TRUTH.

Of course, you are not criticizing Christians, or discriminating against them at all...
I wonder, do you know anything at all about the teachings of Jesus Christ...you know, love your enemies, treat other people as you would like to be treated...stuff like that?
I do remember learning about the Crusades. Do you? Do you remember learning about WHY the crusades took place...did your history teacher explain to you that the Crusaders intended to free Christians from outside aggression, and did he/she mention who the aggressors were?
Were you taught about the great Library in Alexandria that was burned...and did your teacher happen to mention who it was that burned it and why?
Oh, yes...there have been Christian "extremists"...and very violent they were, too. There were the horrible Inquisitions...did your history teacher mention them to you? And...did he/she happen to explain to you why the Inquisitions took place, and who were the main victims?
I'm very much afraid that most folks have a nasty habit of criticizing and even discriminating against people they perceive as disagreeing with their world-view.
And you are quite right...it is very interesting, to see what kind of "wierdos" are out there...

I am a Christian and I certainly don't consider myself a "weirdo". I don't criticize anyone over their religious beliefs. I try to respect anyone's beliefs and I would hope that someone would do the same for me. No matter what religion, I think that there are going to be people that judge others. I think that is just human nature. I can't speak for other Christians, but I don't think that I am discriminated against or criticized. Some people are always going to think that they are being attacked about their beliefs.
Lastly, I don't think your name calling is helping you prove your point.
Just my opinion.

The "fighting" or the ranting (or whatever you want to call it) on the R+S section is like a flame. It is up to the individual to either put gasoline or water on the "flame."
This Christian will only suggest that you not contribute to the "brawl" since not EVERY Christian falls under the category that you are putting us in; likewise for atheists when someone generalizes and talks bad about them.

"The small unopen minds of a christian?"
Oh yeah, now there's an unbiased and totally objective assessment of an entire group of people. Maybe you need to take a step back and look at your own attitudes before you start judging others.
