Volume 4, Book 54, Number 493:

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

The Prophet said, "If anyone of you, when having sexual relation with his wife, say: 'In the name of Allah. O Allah! Protect us from Satan and prevent Satan from approaching our offspring you are going to give us,' and if he begets a child (as a result of that relation) Satan will not harm it."

Would a 'Just' God, a 'Fair' God, a 'Loving' God -- punish Jesus for the sins of the people that he called to follow him?

What does this mean?
Mark 9:1
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

I mean they want to kill everyone over everything. I could give a duce if someone names a teddybear Jesus. It must suck to be so miserable that when you hear that some white chick said Muhammad that it must be time to shoot her to death. Muhammad Muhammad Muhammad

I don't know why it suprised me....seems like the same questions, over and over...so, if the only absolute truth is change, why doesn't that apply here?

I completely understand that you can believe God creates everything, but dinosaurs aren't in the bible. My friend is a devout Christian and I want to talk to her about it but do not want to offend her in any way. My question is also not intended to insult any religion or anyone's beliefs.

when jepththah murdered his daughter (judges 11) he did it because god had tricked him, and being a true believer he did what god commanded.

christians would also murder their children if their god told them to (as magda goebbels did), but are they already corrupted by admiring jephthah as a model of piety?

does one need to personally do evil in order to be counted wicked, or is it enough merely to admire someone who did evil on your behalf?

Child mutilation (circumcision - male and female), beating, forced marriage, gender discrimination, slavery, denial of education. Shouldn't everyone stand up against these? Is this not the 21st century when the world is fast becoming one large, open community?

Is it the actual religions/beliefs, or the power hungry church's that put you off, or both?

I had a disagreement with my roommate about that which can't kill me can only make me stronger. He seemed to hold it as being absolutely true, but then I was able to argue him to my point of view which was that it isn't ALWAYS true. But then one of my dorm mates came in and held it to be absolutely true and I wasn't able to disprove his position because I couldn't find any counter examples he couldn't justify away. I argued that an individual can come away weaker from a negative experience and that that disproves the statement being absolutely true, but he argued that because it's a matter of perception and that it's an individual's own choice of whether or not to become stronger from an experience. I still want to win this argument so I need help.

Its from one of his books THE MYSTIQUE OF THE ISLAMIC ORIENT

'May any muslim who happens to read these lines forgive my plain speaking. To them the koran is the word of allah and i respect their faith. I dont share this idea and i do not wish to get carried away by such myths the way some orientalists have done in order to be in good terms with muslims or islamic governments.

while muslims have every right to read and believe every single word as logic in the koran , they must extend that privilage to any free thinker who is willing to stand up and question the absurd claims this so called holy book makes in the name of an arabian deity'

Worship-wise, the Catholic Church continues to celebrate the same sacraments that were celebrated in the first century. Fundamentalism uses a type of worship, depending on the branch, developed sometime between 1650 and 1920.
