Was it's owner screaming in pain?

2007-11-29 23:59:32 · 12 answers · asked by Cotton Wool Ninja 6

We free-thinkers, we philosophers, we more scientifically sophisticated people...

I've been hanging around this category for a while.
At first I found it insulting - Believe or go to Hell; that kind of statement. Condescending, pointlessly threatening, an assault on reason and the dignity of man, etc...
Then I looked further at these people's answers. The "debate" over evolution. Most are scientifically illiterate. Certain questions aim at ridiculing their beliefs, but the subtelty passes 20 feet above their heads and they answer on honestly, hoping to save a soul, with apparently no inkling of the cultural divide that separates them from the asker.
I have grown amazed at the lack of basic debating skills posessed by some of them, their obvious lapses in grasping the subtelty of language and a certain mindset that seems to make them incapable of grasping all but the most basic black/white types of ideas.
I am not aiming at insulting anyone and I am not suggesting all faith

To be a person is a call, a great dignity, possesses an extrinsic worth. His response is his recognition and acceptance of God's image in him. His responsibility to (1) be oneself, (2) be with others, (3) be for others, like Christ the perfect man, the image of God in man

Its supposed to be a religion of peace and love isn't it? Then why does it often seem to be anything but? Why is it so judgmental and hateful? And before I get indignant answers saying "I don't, don't judge me etc" I am talking in general. Whats up with you guys? Why are you more concerned with gays, harry potter, and Evolution then the real problems of the world?

We know they exsisted at one time. The bible also says that God created the Heavens nd Earth in seven days, but if we know Dinos are real and Christains belive that God did in fact create the earth in seven days and its only six thousand years old, how can you explain that?? Oh i know, maybe God got bored and decided to create Dinosaurs so he could watch them eat people, God has done plenty of other cruel things. Anyways I want to know what you Christians think of this.

Some call here a dream, some a hologram, some unnreality. If we are deaming does waking up = enlightenment? Is lucid dreaming the same as enlightenment? What after Lucid dreaming or waking up? What do YOU see as the next step. Is that next step the ultimate goal? If not what is?

R&S suicide?

1)block the site from my computer
2)get a different job that keeps me too busy to go on R&S
3)shoot my computer screen
4)blind myself with a blunt object so i can't see the Q&A's
5)cut my hands off so i can't type
6)something more grusome

after my (insert very large number here) unwarranted violation, i've decided to commit R&S suicide. my question from yesterday about how to reply tactfully to a hateful bigoted email was deleted after receiving 37 answers. i didn't even get to read them all.

i'm sick and tired of getting violations for no good reason. especially since i seldom report anyone, even if they're making fun of my religion.

KS gave me a link to an excellent interview with muhammed abdul bari, the head of the muslim country of britain.

KS was particularly interested in how mr. bari argues that the way that uk law prevents moslems from stoning women for adultery is an infringement of civil liberties.

mr. bari also explains that the united kingdom is virtually a fascist state for prosecuting prospective suicide bombers, since "The people who become suicide bombers are really vulnerable."

mr. bari also reminds us that it is wrong to regret the shoah, and explains why the bookshop he supervises stocks race-hatred literature.

when the united nations criticised the taleban for using a sports stadium bought with foreign aid money for public executions, the taleban explained that they needed a further grant to build an execution ground.

do all moslems think this way? or just the good ones?
