Obviously, homosexuality is banned, and I think masturbation.

But what about oral sex? Anal sex between heterosexual couples? Bondage? Fetishes? Porn? Are there any rules about them? (Please cite chapter & verse.)

That it is rude to disrespect others and their beliefs? I am sorry to break it to you but if someone posts a question, asking who their patron saint is, they don't need you to come into the question and try to debunk their beliefs. They didn't ask "HEY GUYS, CAN YOU CONVINCE ME MY FAITH IS WRONG PLEASE?"

Are some of the people on R&S really just here to try and make themselves feel better about their stupid choice for religion? Are you trying to find some kind of confirmation? Some solice in breaking down others faiths?

You act like we are all in public school. Some kids get picked on for weight, status, and ability. The same happens here, but for personal beliefs of which you don't belong in judging.

Grow. Up.

I have asked Christians in my life before if they have read the bible and they say they didn't get through all of it, or just the new testament, or the fact Jesus saved them is all they need to know.

A man walking along a lonely road oneday saw a parrot's feather on the side of the road and told the next man whom he happened to meet that he saw 10 parrot feathers near the road.

That man in turn met another man and told him that he saw 10 dead parrots near the road.

now this story developed to the point where that 1 parrots feather became 10,000 dead parrots

Dont you think this applies to our religions as well?

I have been a Christian since I was young. We always went to church and sunday school. I am born again and I was baptised by full immersion when I was 18.

The thing is my life does not look like a Christian at all. I got pregnant when I was 22, got married and divorced soon after because he was promiscuous and abusive (he always called himself a Christian).

I only have a handful of Christian friends, I can not quote the bible, I am in debt. When I separated from my husband I was intimate with several men, not full sexual intercourse but with some quite x rated stuff.

I am despairing - will my life ever be religious and Godly?

"...if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done."

If the Bible says faith can move mountains, should we take that literally? I sure think so.

What is faith? Is it choosing to believe truth regardless of outward appearances?

Does someone out there have an example of how using actual real world physics faith can cause mountains to move and even cause them to be cast into the sea?

Is it possible for a seemingly small and unrelated event such as faith (small as a mustard seed faith) to cause a butterfly on the other side of the world to flutter its wings which leads to the eventual casting of a mountian into the sea by the movement of tectonic plates. Does anyone have any ideas on how faith can lead to the butterfly fluttering its wings in the first place? What events would occur between the initial faith, the butterfly's flutter and mountain being cast into the sea?

If objective is defined as "free of any bias or prejudice caused by personal feelings" then how can one make an objective determination or judgment? Is it possible to separate yourself from ALL feeling, both negative and positive, regarding the topic in which you are studying?

since the Jehovah Witnesses refused to acknowledge that

1) God had His eternally begotten Son,
2) Jehovah who speaks in Isaiah 40-45, is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself,

if any come to you, ask the JW's from their 'bible'

Prov 30:4 (NWT) Who has ascended to heaven that He may descend? Who has gathered the wind in the hollow of both hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in a mantle? Who has made all the ends of the earth to rise? What is His name and what the name of His Son, in case you know?

of course it is better in KJV
Pro 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in His fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His name, and what is His Son's name, if thou canst tell?

This is from one of my favourite thinkers Thomas paine from his book 'age of reason'

' koran says that an angel spoke to the islamic prophet mohommed. Bible says that an angel spoke to abraham. since i did not see what these angels looked like or never heard what these angels actually spoke , i have a right to dismiss these claims as nonsense'

How will you reply Dear old Thomas paine?

Example 1.
3 people standing in the path of an oncoming vehicle. All are hit by vehicle and die.
1st person - doesn't see vehicle coming. Is struck and killed.
2nd person - sees vehicle, doesn't avoid it because believes he will survive somehow and is struck and killed.
3rd person - sees vehicle coming, intentionally stands in the path of vehicle knowing it will kill him. Is struck and killed.

I think most people would agree that 1 was an accident, 2 was just mistaken, while 3 was suicide.

Example 2.
1st person - has cancer but doesn't know it. Dies.
2nd person - has cancer but prefers faith or alternate treatment to modern medical treatment. Dies.
3rd person - has cancer and knows it will kill him but refuses all treatment. Dies.

Question: Did the 3rd person in example 2 also commit suicide?

Opinion: Being passive can't omit suicide as a cause of death as the 3rd person was passive in simply not avoiding the car.

Anyone have an opinion on what defines suicide, method or intent?

ppl would refuse treatments for their kids based on the belief that the three headed dragon Charlie said so? Would that be acceptable? Would they not remove the child from the parents and save the childs life or would they "respect" their faith in a three headed dragon and just let the child die? I'm sorry... I believe in religious freedom BUT when it lets a poor brainwashed 14 year old die because of his belief (HE"S FOURTEEN!!) then something is seriously wrong...

It just makes me so upset to keep seeing these things happening in the name of some imaginary God. When do we say stop!?

And whoever feels offended by this...so be it
