That it is rude to disrespect others and their beliefs? I am sorry to break it to you but if someone posts a question, asking who their patron saint is, they don't need you to come into the question and try to debunk their beliefs. They didn't ask "HEY GUYS, CAN YOU CONVINCE ME MY FAITH IS WRONG PLEASE?"

Are some of the people on R&S really just here to try and make themselves feel better about their stupid choice for religion? Are you trying to find some kind of confirmation? Some solice in breaking down others faiths?

You act like we are all in public school. Some kids get picked on for weight, status, and ability. The same happens here, but for personal beliefs of which you don't belong in judging.

Grow. Up.

jesussav...: That doesn't give you the reason to optionally answer a question which doesn't concern you, just to push you beliefs on them.

Robin the Rockin' VT: I'm trying to help IMPROVE things, not ignore them.

Averell A: This is why nothing ever changes. People need to at least try and change something in their lives, be it discrimination on Yahoo! or on a more World-Wide scale. It's called progress, and no matter how small it's always worth it's pursuit.

Diane the Succubus: Did my entire post go straight over your head? Thanks for picking apart a small piece of a bigger picture. It was a bad choice of a word, and I am known for that. I meant no discrimination.

Godless: Should we go and force the "Fasionable people" from their style of clothes just because we don't like them, and don't think they are a good item to wear? Whether it be clothes, or religion, it's not your place to judge.

My friend you have taken on a noble task but I will say now it is doomed to fail. You can not and are not called to change the world. It belongs to whom God gave it to so Let God be the one to fix it as He sees best.

Jesus declared if they are not against us they are for us and if the are now with us, just leave them alone. I see it as good advice.

Now here there is a "Rough Bunch" who are free of course to state their view as you are so just let them do it OK.

Have a good day and when you see something you do not like, look away OK.

Eh. It may be a bit rude, but there is no moral imperative to respect other people's opinions and beliefs.

Would you feel the same about "disrespect" if someone chimed in on this section asking whether a Virgo and an Aries could truly find love? Or, perhaps, if someone asked, since dowsing is so obviously correct, whether dowsing was more correct when trying to find water instead of gold, and whether lead could be dowsed for? Or say, if they asked exactly which kind of magnet they needed to use to cure their lumbago?

You might direct them to the "Paranormal/Psychic Beliefs" section of Yahoo. But as far as I and many others are concerned, questions about what God wants belong in exactly the same section. To me, questions about God are no more or less foolish than questions about whether crystals can heal you.

There is no "picking on" here. There is, however, a recognition of the fact that a lot of people not only believe something dumb, but expect me to live MY life as if that dumb belief were true. This I will never respect.

You're half right.

It is rude to disrepect others. However, beliefs are fair game. If a belief can't hold up to scrutiny, it is not much of a belief. We shouldn't put this artificial shield around people's pet beliefs, just in case they might not like it if we contradict them. Religion, in particular, has done much harm in this world, and shouldn't be artificially protected from critique.

I respect Christians a lot. My family is Christian, and my brother-in-law is a Methodist minister. I respect Jews. My grandmother and half my aunts and uncles are Jews. I also respect Muslims, and am even married to one.

However, I don't respect Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. Much of the world's problems have been made much worse by those beliefs. There is some good philosophy, and some good stories in those religions, but they are, basically, superstitions. And while I respect people who have those superstitions, I don't respect the superstitions, themselves.

I don't think I can grow up, I'm missing a gene. On the bright side of that I am immortal, well in the sense that I never grow up. I can still be killed with a wooden stake threw my heart or blasted by a silver bullet, even an infected abscessed tooth could do me in but growing old and wise is simply not in the cards. Thank the Saints I don't drink anymore.

And the question is?
Your ranting is more insulting that the people who try to convince others that their religion is wrong. I will refer to your first analogy: " hey you guy would you please try to convince me that expressing my beliefs against other beliefs is wrong?". The gloves are off when you use these sources to express any kind of opinion, so don't expect just convenient, to you, answers. With your ranting, trying to force into us a pattern of behavior which you believe is the correct, you are committing the same crime which you are accusing us of committing.
Next time be better prepared when you are trying to be "Caped" hero defender of "Beliefs"

I am a Catholic, but I do not believe that Saints have anything to do in my salvation.
I do not care who is my patron Saint.
I try to be a good person, that is the most important thing for me.
I respect all religions, I have Muslim friends, non-Catholic Christian friends, non-believers, we are all sons and daughters of God.

You are my hero!!..Seriously, i'm tired of telling people to grow up too.unfortunately, coming from a 15 year old(that's written in my profile for everyone to see), people don't feel like taking it seriously(i wonder why.)..people criticise for variouis reasons: to hide their own mistakes, jealousy, having nothing else to do, as a habit, etc. etc.as is common knowledge, bullies are always cowards, and i'm 99.9% sure these people wouldn't be able to muster up a grain of courage to say the same things face-to-face..the lack of success of my "be nice campaign" has put me off fighting anymore, but that doesn't mean i'd stop lending my support to my fellow warriors..so, good luck with your question, may it have the success i never got to taste..; )

When you throw out a question to the entire world, be prepared to get a bunch of answers back. If you don't like an answer then just ignore it. It's the Internet. It's not like anyone is in your face forcing you into anything.

I'm not the one who needs to grow up. Growing up entails casting off beliefs in various things, like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and GOD.

I was a theist when I joined Yahoo Answers, and I was mocked and ridiculed when I made statements that made no sense to rational people. I am now an atheist and it's the best thing that ever happened to me. That happens here ever day, and I see nothing wrong with it, just as I see nothing wrong with dragging brainwashed kids out of cults and deprogramming them. Sometimes, somebody has to say something. Too much has gone unchallenged for too long. Theists have enjoyed special treatment, special rights and protections, exemption from laws that everyone else has to follow, you name it, they get it. All they have to do is object to something on religious grounds, and they get a free pass. They have been given too much power, and they are treated with kid gloves because it is generally held that their beliefs should be respected. Why? Why should their delusional thinking be respected just because it's religious in nature? It shouldn't, and it often isn't here. That's reality.

I will respect that which is deserving of respect, and ridicule that which is ridiculous, and yes, it is my place to judge. Your question itself is judgemental. Everyone judges, so don't tell me what it is my place to do or not do. I am a human being and I live on this planet. Comparing religious faith with clothing style is comparing apples with oranges. Style of dress does not determine whether a baby receives a blood transfusion that could save his life. Style of dress does not tell America that God told it to invade Iraq. Style of dress does not fly planes into buildings, and style of dress does not throw holiday crap all over every store and television station every Christmas. Religious faith does that, and I am not the only one who has had enough of it.

In the course of a single post you say that it is rude to disrespect others religions and beliefs then you call others choice of religion stupid...

It would seem to me you should follow your own advise and Grow Up...

Addition: Hypocrisy is alive and well isn't it?

Keep gnawing on your foot eventually you will reach your hip then you can put your other foot in your mouth...
