"...if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done."
If the Bible says faith can move mountains, should we take that literally? I sure think so.
What is faith? Is it choosing to believe truth regardless of outward appearances?
Does someone out there have an example of how using actual real world physics faith can cause mountains to move and even cause them to be cast into the sea?
Is it possible for a seemingly small and unrelated event such as faith (small as a mustard seed faith) to cause a butterfly on the other side of the world to flutter its wings which leads to the eventual casting of a mountian into the sea by the movement of tectonic plates. Does anyone have any ideas on how faith can lead to the butterfly fluttering its wings in the first place? What events would occur between the initial faith, the butterfly's flutter and mountain being cast into the sea?

You've really put a lot of thought into your question, which is why it's a good one.
Yes, faith is choosing to believe in something regardless of outward appearance or "physical " proof.
The butterfly effect can be easily compared to Jesus himself. He spent his entire life spreading the Word of God - the "news" that would become the New Testement. Like the butterfly, He was only one man...one voice. His teachings really stirred everything up, and in the beginning everyone thought he was either a fool or the devil. But slowly, with His patience and devotion to speading the Word, a few people at a time became his followers. Today, there are billions of Christians all over the world. If that's not a butterfly effect, what is?
Oh, and by the way, the moviing mountain thing is just symbolic.

Faith is a belief and a belief is something someone else had given to us. IT CAN'T DO S??T! Now on the other hand, a knowingness is something that is written in stone inside us that we could only give to ourselves and that is when our first ACTION starts to create a REACTION due to our choice. All the obstacles of our previous fears aren't there anymore therefore our wishes and dreams start to materialize right in front of us. Faith can't do sh?t The energy we would expel on faith would be ridden with doubts and cause that to go into effect for everyone. Hell I don't know---help, get me a gun!!!

Holy crap. You do comprehend faith is 'a perception without evidence', properly? You do have a extreme college degree properly? so so you could possibly deduct that faith can no longer flow a mountain.

While it is literally true, it cannot be true literally. Do you think God would honestly grant to us an ability through faith to make mountains move? Why would we need to be tossing mountains around?
What does mountain signify?

I chuckled a bit seeing the words "physics" and "faith" right next to each other lol. :-)
Addendum:
You just have to love Jed's answer:
"While it is literally true, it cannot be true literally."
Orwell, eat your heart out; if that isn't doublethink I don't know what is! People have no problem saying god's word isn't literally true and yet ALWAYS dance around saying it's literally false.

The faith that is in us is from Jesus Christ. It is HIS faith, not ours, that has the power to move mountains.
God cannot do things that are outside His nature, so He would not do a physical miracle unless it was part of His plan and brought glory to God.
