...just in instances when you have to apply for stuff or whatever it is that requires you to fill in forms, sometimes you'd come across a field asking you what your religion is.
But if you're not comfortable with the faith you grew up in, what would you write?

For example you see someone on the street drinking beer and smoking, and you think, "Wow, what an idiot, I'm much more moral then him." I mean it seems like every Christian does this. We view ourselves as being much higher because of how we avoid drugs, smoking, drinking, and ect. When the reality is most of us are just as bad or even worse then these kind of people. Yet we judge and point fingers, when all that does is makes things worse. If we really want to "change" these people, we should encourage then instead of looking down on them. I just see this way to often, Christians getting full of themselves, when in reality they have their own flaws that still makes them imperfect. And imperfection is an imperfection no matter how you look at it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Christian, but I just see this kind of judgement on a daily basis.

Hi.
I have some conflicting points from different sources and was hoping someone could specify which is more correct.

My textbook tells me

"The extreme ascetic view sees sexual relations as appropriate only for the purpose of procreation and it is thus a necessary evil."
This tells me that sex, apart from procreation, is not had, in extreme groups of Judaism.

Another books says,
"Though rabbinic judaism took shape in the midst of the greco-roman world, it rejected a good deal of greco-roman though, including the idea that the human soul is good while the human body is evil. Unlike Christianity, therefore, Judaism never looked down upon bodily pleasure and did not associate sex with sinfulness."

Is it safe to say that the textbook is correct when talking about extreme cases only, or is there no chance of any Jew having the view that marital sex can be sinful.

At the age of 16 I'm still not baptized. I consider myself a Christian but I have never finish reading the Bible. When I first went to church I was age 12 and my pastor purposed to baptize me in his swimming pool. I only went to church for a couple of weeks and he already purposed to baptize me.

This leads to my first question:
Can I be baptized even though I have never read the bible (this was when I never started reading it.)?

Sadly I stopped going to church and never got baptized because I live pretty far from it and school, society, etc gets in the way. I always wondered would God still treat me the same way as a baptized person when I die.

This leads me to my second question:
In your opinion or facts, would God treat me differently then a baptized person? If yes, how would he treat me? If no, what is the point of being baptized?

I plan to finish reading the bible but not sure if I will ever be baptized. I would love to hear your comments.

Do you know it's not of works. It's not because you were good?
You must read the Bible. Let God speak to you through the Bible. Don't believe in some denomination. The Bible is the Truth. How else do you think all this life and perfection is here? You don't want to spend eternity in hell.

Tuberoot asked :

Christians, Do you sit around a worry about what Atheists think?

I know I don't. They are a pretty sad lot if you ask me.

Yet a quick look at his profile ..........

Isn't 'Atheist' just a man made word that attempts to explain away things they don't understand?

What are some of your favorite Atheist contradictions?

Are Atheists surprised when Christians witness to them on a Religion and Spirituality Forum?

Do Atheists have faith that they are right about there being no God?

Since the Atheists here are acting like a religion, will they start worshiping themselves in public?

Did you notice that R&S Atheists are acting just like religious people?

Isn't Atheism just a man made word to explain away things that they cannot yet understand?

Why are Atheists here night after night preaching their religion faithfully?

Since Atheists are completely in denial about having faith in what they believe, can they admit to ignorance?

Many people will call Jehovah’s Witnesses a cult and/or a sect. Since many will just go along with what other uninformed people say and will not do the research and find out the truth…I’ve done the research for you. I’ve had to add several “Additional Details”, so please read it all, as I have been able to dispute the false claims. Please tell me why people think that Jehovah’s Witnesses are a cult or a sect?

Or can Islam not co-exist with other religions?

I'm studying southeast asia currently, and it seems that Christianity (Malaysian Christians vs. Malaysian Muslims, and Filipino Christian vs. Filipino Muslims) and Buddhism (Thai Buddhists vs. Thai Muslims) can't peacefully exist with Islam.
Muslims live in predominantly Christian America, but I think it's peaceful because Islam is fairly new in America and there isn't a big religious following yet. In the UK, tensions are rising, so peace doesn't seem likely there.
Does practicing Islam freely and unreserved mean that other religions can's exist or are there religions that work with Islam?

(It isn't Muslims that always break peace. In Thailand, it was the Buddhist that 1st attacked the Muslims)

And I know many follow different gods from one another sometimes. However, is there a universal "Creator God"? Is there text within your religion that has a story and a specific god/goddess that is responsible for creation of the world and how they created the world?

Why don't most Christians/Catholics take virginity serious in the U.S? Please don't be offended, because I ask this not intending to offend anyone. Also it's true, and I know its part of your religion to keep your virginity until marriage. But sex before marriage is glorified in the U.S, on TV and in real life. It makes Christians/Catholics (I Christians/Catholics but I know their not the only ones) look bad, when in fact it's against your religion. Why does it seem that you guys don’t care? And no one does anything to at least lessen the glorification on TV? That way *maybe* in real life people will not think it’s “cool” or “ok” to have sex before marriage. Please don’t side track just answer my questions, thanks.

I have had way more problems than average to the point people always say I am unlucky and do you think God is trying to tell you something

I tended to blame God saying "why are you doing this to me God" or gos must be trying to tell/ teach me something and I am not getting it

I almost died Monday missing death by one second where the car impacted at a 50 mph impact. In talking with a neighbor who saw pictures of the car (which they cut me out of) she said God spared my life and I need to thank god and in talking somehow it came to me through things she said that the devil tried to kill you tonight that maybe it was not Gos causing all these bad thongs to happen but rather the devil to keep me focused on misery, hate, worry, depression etc to blunt the good god could do with my life and that the good things that came out of the bad things the devil did were from God but not the bad event..I thought I was mad at god kind of and felt I could not trust him..I recently after 23 years s

As far as I know Protestants based their belief on Sola Fidae (faith only) and Sola Scriptura (bible only), while Catholics based our belief on Sola Verbum Dei (Word of God only).

What i want to know is, if the bible is the only foundation of truth, why does Paul says in 1 Timothy 3:15 "if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth"?

And since the bible was compiled at the Council of Hippo (200+ years after Jesus died), what's the foundation of truth before that?

...then why are there so many who feel it is their prerogative to speak for God, particularly when it comes to judging the behaviour of others? According to the Bible, all are equal before God and the only true conviction comes from the Holy Spirit, not from any man, so why are there so many who insist it is there right and duty to so act? Is it not enough to simply try to live a life that is an exemplary testament to their faith...?
