This is from one of my favourite thinkers Thomas paine from his book 'age of reason'

' koran says that an angel spoke to the islamic prophet mohommed. Bible says that an angel spoke to abraham. since i did not see what these angels looked like or never heard what these angels actually spoke , i have a right to dismiss these claims as nonsense'

How will you reply Dear old Thomas paine?

I would say that it's interesting he doesn't dispute the existence of the angels as most people would, but rather their words. I would say that he's quite within his rights to dismiss the claims of both the Koran and the Bible. The right to question and to come up with our own beliefs is a right that we all share. I still believe that it is worthwhile to read these books, however; even humans have their moments of brilliance.

Nemesis-there's more to both the Bible and the Koran than Jesus (especially the latter of the two, though I understand that he is acknowleged there as a prophet, and yes, I also know that SOME Christians consider everything in the Bible to be about Jesus...)

Wise words from a wise man who played an important role in the propagation of reason over blind belief & who was instrumental in the birth of a nation which has become the most powerful in the world!
The Koran & Bible were written by people driven by the desire to exercise control over others for their own agenda!

He's not bad for a Pom is he.

To the last ent wife, it's interesting that you mention George Washington because, although you haven't seen him, there was plenty written about him while he was alive. This would indicate that he existed. Now Jesus on the other hand, supposedly did a lot of stuff worth writing about, but not a word was written about him at the time.

When I practiced sorcery, I worked with demons (fallen angels) on a regular basis...

so, forgive me if I disagree with Mr. Paine's point of view...

Galatians 1:8,9 says even if an angel(star, church leader) brings you another gospel, another law, let him (not you) be accursed (by it).

Let's take the angel Gabriel, for example.
He lied to Mary, saying she had partiality.
For there is no respect of persons with God.
Such is noted oft, from 2Chronicles...1Peter.

Thomas Paine age of reason is based on the principles of men. But our faith in GOD is based on the principles of the saints or the holy peoples. Thus, only through your heart that you will understand the heavenly works of GOD and never through the intellect of a punny man. THE LORD GOD said Has any man was able to reach the roots of my unfathomable wisdom; or else that man has already condemned himself. NOt only angels will you see if you open your heart to GOD but you will also see GOD HIMSELF. This is so as GOD said I am beside you (everyone) everpresent; anytime and anywhere. You have only to believe in that mystery of MY presence. Moreover, THE LORD GOD is unfathomable love, with infinite mercy and compassion. GOD has not denied anybody to see HIM that is when their hearts are open. THANK GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD .

I agree with him. Without many witnesses, it's called "hearsay" and would never stand up in court.
