To my knowledge, the mantra for worshipping Godess Saraswati starts with the words....ya kundendu tushar haar dhawala, ya shubhra wastra vrita.........Yaa veena war danda mandit karaa, yaa sweta padmaasana.........Yaa bramhachyut shankar prabhriti bhirdevye sada vandita.......saa maa paatu saraswati bhagwati ,nihshesh jadya pahaa
The mantra says..Goddess SARASWATI,who is white like kund flower,moon,snow and garland, who wears white clothes, whose hands hold the veenaa,[a musical instrument] who sits on a throne made by white lotus flowers, who is worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, who removes all ignorance from their roots, that Goddess Saraswati is requested to look after me.
Gayatri mantra is a mantra for worshiping Goddess Gayatri.

I can't describe it but i can say everything has it's own importance. Dovotee to Hanuman chant Hanuman Chalisa, Maa Saraswati's Devote worship her just like this it depends on belief of yours.
