You can't prove a negative. Think about it - if something didn't happen, then there isn't any evidence. And if there isn't any evidence, then there isn't any proof. That why they say "guilty until proven innocent," and "the burden of proof is on the positive statement." In other words, the person who says that something exists or that something happened is logically obligated to provide a rational argument for that belief. Christians, of course, have provided scores of rational arguments, but you aren't likely to see any of them here.

A better question is this: Why must we scientifically prove the existence of God, even though we accept 90% of what we believe without any scientific proof? In other words, how can anyone justify the idea that only scientifically valid statements are meaningful?

Yes it is a funny question. No, you can't the non existence of something. However, there are many proofs that show the many many various religious texts of the world to be wrong, thereby leading to the conclusion that they (the Bible and Koran included) cannot be trusted as a literal account. I'm not gonna list them, I know about them. Try to prove that they don't exist!

No, they don't. And in fact there is more proof there is God than not, they just conclude incorrectly - with closed circuit reasoning. Life itself is proof, but they think; wow, that can't be from God, it just happened by accident. What a lay down and die cop out!

Yawn

No, we don't. Neither do we have proof there is no bug-eyed, purple handed, giant elephant-panda crossbreed living on the far side of Jupiter playing golf with a hockey stick and a balloon.

We also have precisely the same amount of evidence in favour of each of these things existing.

You cant prove a negative. For example, you can't prove unicorns, goblins, or the FSM doesnt exist. The onus is on you to prove there is a god if thats your claim and the proof you present is through the Bible, Quran, etc...which are full of scientific errors and contractions.

You can't proof that something doesn't exist.

We have no proof of god besides a book. You bring me proof and I will test it and see if it holds up.

Yes, the proof that there is no god is that there is no evidence that he exists.
Just like the proof Bigfoot doesn't exist is because there is no evidence that he does exsist

Trust me, you didn't think. Oh wait, you don't have to trust me. The fact is you don't have proof and the burden of proof is on you. Since you have no proof of your claim then I win by default. Thanks for playing.

no, because there is no proof for God. so when there is no proof for "something" you know it does not exist. by showing it does not exist, is proof.
