I don't mean being showered with compliments.

I mean having a conversation with a person who has NOTHING else to talk about except how wonderful they think you are?

(((Linz))) Trust me baby, I'm not talking about you. I have nothing but good things to say about you, always! :)

I've had this happen 3 times in my life. Once I really needed the ego boost because there was someone else telling constantly that I couldn't do anything right! So, at that time, those words really helped me.

The last two times this happened, it totally annoyed me and I disliked the persons who did it. If someone constantly talks about how great I am, what's going to happen when they realize I'm not perfect?! I'd rather people see me from a balanced perspective!

I brought a whole new idea to a company, Using GOOD BUGS to GET rid of BAD BUGS.
Because I have cut pesticide use in that company to almost zero...I get the conversation often!
I did not think of this good bug/bad bug idea.
I am not an Entomologist.
I am only a two year degree in horticulture person with a good listing ear. The researchers, the Professors, the Entomologists, THOSE are the people we need to thank!
Not to mention our insect friends that have taken care of the pest problem.
People do thank me, or credit me with praise that does NOT belong to me!!!
YES I am embarrassed!
So many others deserve the credit I get!

Well, if all they were saying were compliments, it would be awkward first of all, but it would also be absolutely annoying.

I know this guy and he's always saying "why are you so good looking?" when ever I change my display picture. Seriously, how do you answer that?! It ruins conversations and it is weird because if you don't feel the same way about him, you feel pretty bad.

Note to guys: limit your compliments. You think it's nice, but it's creepy and weird. :)

HAHA, yes it bothers me when people are nice to me. Typically, the first thing I think is "what does this person want?" If they are at it repeatedly, I tend to just conclude based on the evidence that the person is insane.

I remember when my best friend in college told me that I was her greatest role model. All I could find to say in response was "you need to meet more people, dear." =)

Well, after the second compliment I would wonder if they really thought I was that great or if they were being sarcastic. Ha! guess I don't take compliments too well.

Once or twice is nice. But more than that could be indicative of
a hidden agenda.

I loathe sycophants. It would go beyond mere annoyance and I would start thinking how I could get rid of the person.

It would be flattering at first then become annoying after a while.

If I'd created them especially TO worship me, I'd love it. Perhaps I'd create a whole planet full. That would make me a bit of an egotistical and shallow idiot though, wouldn't it?

While pleasant at first, I think it would swiftly become annoying to have someone constantly brown-nosing.
