Last week was Thanksgiving and many of us felt very pious for one day and donated to the poor or helped feed them.
5 days later, that belly is pretty hungry again. Most soup kitchens and food pantries are in the worst shape they've been in years. Increased demand, decreased donations.
Every day I try to feed some hungry people. A lot of times its just rice and kidney beans in a paper coffee cup. I make up 24 servings about 6 oz each. Sometimes its soup. Sometimes rice and beans. I own a small cafe. People come in and ask. They know I make something up for them after lunch.
Some customers have a very positive response. Most freak out that a "dirty bum" is given free food. They are human beings. I give them food and water six days a week.
If you were in a cafe and saw someone hand out a free to these people, many minorities and women, how would you react?

Don't bother to answer if you do not believe in God, this question is not for atheists.

Indeed Jews were chosen once. But they fell from Grace because of their disobedience. In 587 BCE, they were punished through Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar.
Then they were punished in 70 AD for rejecting Christ knowingly and as predicted by him, not a stone of Solomon's temple remained on another. Do they believe that their choice is unconditional? But Deteronomy 11:18~25 says :

"If you faithfully keep all the instructions that I command you,
loving the Lord your God, walking in his ways and holding fast
to Him...........as He promised you"

Holy Quran also says in Chapter ' Bani Israel ' that::

" If you repeat your sins, we Shall repeat the punishment".

Further in ch 3, verse 112 :

" Shame is pitched over them wherever they are found except under a covenent from Allah and from people (Like
American people), they draw on themselves wrath from Allah.

And tht who reject Jesus will always be outnumbered by his believers. Then why this misunderding?

Please bear with me as this will probably be fairly lengthy. I sort of asked this question before but due to the answers either I didn't give enough detail or ( as I'm starting to believe) I made the most foolish decision of my life. I know some will say this doesn't belong here but it was either here or Philosophy and I feel this can only be answered from the heart, not the mind.

Up until 6 months ago I was engaged to the most wonderful woman I have ever met. Due to circumstances we were separated by a great distance. Different continents to be precise. In 2002, before we met, I had a brush with skin cancer. I had a few melanomas removed and was required to have 3monthly checkups. After 12 months that became annual. 2 years later bi-annual. They must have missed something at the last annual as at my first bi-annual in Feb 2007 they discovered I had metastatic melanoma. I was given 12 to 18 months to live. I was faced with 2 options. I know that you guys don't know the true answer and only "he" knows. I remember when I was a kid, I did believe in God but I was not christian, I just thought he was up there watching over us. There were these punk kids who stole people's lunches, made girls cry, and caused trouble in the playground. I said that God would punish them for their crimes.

They then said "He can suck it." These kids then do the suck it sign up the sky. -_-" and pointed their middle fingers up the sky. They then said "see nothing happened to us". I thought thunder was gonna strike them or something. So I guess he only punishes people in the after life?

Thanks for reading.

So I've read and searched and experimented. Even so far as Scientology. Religion is currupt no matter where it is. There is nothing true anymore. Everyone lies, either for money, fame or reputation.

Jehova never shows himself anymore, or for that matter, any other "God" or deity.

Buddhism is a great religion... just seems harder to become enlightened anymore. I love reading up on what he taught.

The Gods are so facist, angry, and almost hypocritical when I've come to really look at it.

I don't know what to think anymore. Isn't there anything more than blind faith? Isn't there something that actually affects a person to have happiness. It doesn't seem so.

I've almost given up.

I admit I could have worded my last question better, and I am sorry. I didn't recieve the answer I felt I needed, so I reworded it and made it clearer.

If god gave us the ability of free will. If god gave us the gift of choice, why are we punished when we choose our own path, and our own choices? Obviously he would want us to make up our own minds about everything, hence giving us Free Will. Yet, when we do, we get punished and sent to "Hell".

Why did he bother with Free Will at all if he wanted us all to blindly follow his command? I don't see the point, please enlighten me.

What do you think of Walter Wink's interpretation of Jesus message 'turn the other cheek'. His interpretaion being that its not passive but a form of non violent active resistance against oppression, and that 'going two miles when one presses you into going one mile' was actually another way to fight oppression by getting the soldier in trouble? if you don't know what im taking about go here and tell me what you think

I really don't know. Anyone? Oh, and don't say a fluke. 'Cause then I'd be thinking, uh..duh...!

Oh, and don't tell me it doesn't happen because God is good and evil came from somewhere. If that's not good enough for you, what do you call mistakes? Are you telling me you meant to do that? If you say, yes, that's funny. That's like saying God meant for us to be sinners, for Christ to be murdered on the cross and the devil to rebel against him thus creating a hell, and the need for God. That would mean God enjoys our misery as much as our happiness, because our happiness creates misery among our brothers and sisters. Furthermore, that would go on to saying that God created everything the way it is so that he would be need, worshipped, and loved. Then I'd have to say, wow. Who would've ever known?

I made this video a few days after my best friend commited suicide because I was depressed and I was told by my therapist to do something silly that would remind me of him so I made this video of a dance he and I used to do at the club that we saw on an episode of Fresh Prince. If you notice there is a diamond shaped window behind me during the entire video. It goes to my front steps. I don't have a bulb in my front porch light and I live out in the country where there are no street lights and nobody was looking through the window. My cousin and I were watching it after I uploaded it to youtube and she noticed that it looked like his face in the window behind me during the entire video. What do you think?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M36tCGJJ9eY
Just to prove it's MY video, you can go to my youtube profile from the video and you will see that it has my name and also I have a video in memory of my friend who killed himself on there.

killing yourself? What if you're really mentally ill? My roman catholic friend thinks this is a direct ticket to hell. I can't help but think this isn't true, since one would have to be really mentally ill.

Take advantage of the time you live in. The Bible is not contraband anymore, the Catholics are not burning them at the moment, and you can find a translation in your langauge. So study the most printed book in human history.

Whether you belive the Bible or not in the end, at least learn for yourself what it says. Think about it. Yeah, even go out on a limb and pray to the Power above to give you Wisdom and show you that He exists.

He was surrounded by Cathri (good men) preachers and was influenced by our small bibles in the vernacular. He liked us much that in 1525 he offered our belivers a protection from persecution by the Catholic Church if we would join him.

What made the difference in his life was the careful study of the Bible. His knowledge of the New Testament changed him fundamentally. The change was so great that it caused him to reject his roots in the Catholic Church as being satanic.

Have you studied the Bible in depth over a long period of time, while praying for God to give you wisdom? Do it and it will change your life.
