I know that you guys don't know the true answer and only "he" knows. I remember when I was a kid, I did believe in God but I was not christian, I just thought he was up there watching over us. There were these punk kids who stole people's lunches, made girls cry, and caused trouble in the playground. I said that God would punish them for their crimes.

They then said "He can suck it." These kids then do the suck it sign up the sky. -_-" and pointed their middle fingers up the sky. They then said "see nothing happened to us". I thought thunder was gonna strike them or something. So I guess he only punishes people in the after life?

Thanks for reading.

God angers unrighteousness and punishes who do as such. Only people are so inclined to do bad things because God is a longsuffering God that holds His anger to give you chance to repent.

Numbers 14:18
The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.

The longsuffering of God while holding his anger means salvation...
2 Peter 3:15
And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

But no kidding that God punishes whoever takes his patience and longsuffering for granted!!!
Proverbs 1:24-29
24Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
26I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
27When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

You reap what you sow. If the reaping was always immediate most would be more careful what they sowed and fear. God wants us to obey out of love and respect. That's why He gave us a freewill to begin with. God is also a God of mercy and isn't quick to anger. If He wasn't & was few if any would have a chance.

Maybe He punishes some immediately as an example or to keep them on the straight & narrow or even to guide their path. Others won't receive it until the end for possibly the same reasons. Personally though as rough as it may be I'd rather get it now when I can repent than pay in the end.

Sin is sin in God's eyes. Only man gives it degrees of how bad. Just because He didn't punish them in an obvious connection type way doesn't mean they haven't been punished at all. That my friend is between them & God.

Even in Hebrews He speaks of punishing His children in the here & now. But KJV calls it chastisement. Plus all through the Bible are stories of those who were punished long before they died.

Just because He doesn't do it how & when we expect doesn't mean that He doesn't do it until after death.

God doesn't ever get angry,as far as i know. he gets disappointed. anger to him is a sin and leads to more problems. he does punish those with sins but he also tests people. what those kids did was wrong and they will regret it later on. god will make them regret their mistake one way or another. the thunder part is fictional. that can happen, but most likely, got will return their sin gradually. they will be punished in the after life too, but in this life at some point, they will also be punished. there are only two places to go. if you do good and live for the good and believe in god and thank god and remember god, then you will go to heaven, but if u don't do good and are sinful and don't regret wat u did or ask for forgiveness, you'll go down. you watch and wait, god will punish those that deserve it, and in the long run, do good to those that deserve it.

God does punish and reward people while they live -- not after they are dead as in while they are dead.

The righteous shall of course receive a resurrection.

God does not lose control of his emotions as we do so often. He does however punish people in his wrath. There is a difference.

In regard to punishment and death, God's view is larger than our view. We want immediate action reward or punishment. God let people mature into a mature growth or fruit. Then when the end result has manifested, the cup of sins full perhaps the punishment comes due or the reward.

It is all about our own choices, you keep getting back what you put out (karma) until your soul evolves up. You actually chose everything that happens to give you the most learning. There is no way you could learn everything in one lifetime. However, God can provide strength & faith to get through via prayer. It is what we want to believe but God is not nice, he is fair and exacting. Jesus is nice, however, and can intercede on your behalf, which is why he came in the first place. Try praying to Jesus to send the Holy Spirit to envelope you from harm. And don't worry if others lie or cheat to win, you take the high road.

I guess it depends what God you believe in. The Old Testament Christian God was a god of fear and vengeance. The New Testament God isn't.

Allah doesn't seem to suffer fools gladly and there are many strict punishments for moral transgressions in Islam.

You pick your God and you take your chances.

God's ways we do not always understand but there will come a time when everyone will stand before God and will give an account of all they did on earth. That is when God's wrath will be seen and all those who rejected Him will find themselves in the lake of fire forever and ever. But those who obeyed God and trusted Jesus Christ as their Savor and have their names written in the book of life will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus Christ

For Bible passages about God punishing people out of anger, see the following books in the Old Testament: Genesis, I Samuel, II Samuel, I Kings, II Kings, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk.

(Note: this list is far from comprehensive!)

no - i think that God never punishes people on purpose. God is the one perfect thing there is.
i believe in karma. what comes around comes around. if someone does wrong, then they are punished not out of anger --- but so they will learn not to do wrong again.
even if a person has never sinned (which erm... isnt likely) they can still be punished - i guess it's all a test of faith.

God just wants us to be with Him, God wants us to come to Him, so we dont' get left behind, I heard this story in church, where if a shepherd had 100 sheep and one of them took off, would the shepherd let it go or go out and look for it, The Shepherd would go out and look for it, and leave the 99 until the shepherd found the lost one, That is how God feels about us, God doesn't want to lose one of us, That is why God sent His only Son to Save us, So we would not be lost.
