What do you think of Walter Wink's interpretation of Jesus message 'turn the other cheek'. His interpretaion being that its not passive but a form of non violent active resistance against oppression, and that 'going two miles when one presses you into going one mile' was actually another way to fight oppression by getting the soldier in trouble? if you don't know what im taking about go here and tell me what you think

Your link is broken, so I can't read the article but, as an initial response, it does seem like an interpretation very much inspired by Gandhi's Satyagraha (non-violent civil disobedience).

At the end of day, such passive forms of disobedience are incredibly hard to break if they are backed by a commensurate strength of will. I don't see why the idea of turning the other cheek can't incorporate both self-sacrifice and passive civil disobedience seeing one usually entails the other to some degree or other. On the face of it, it wouldn't conflict with the notion of ''rendering unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's''.

Judging from such a compelling and thorough analysis of the zodiac, I 'd say you live up to your interpretations. You've proven to be as insightful as an experimental sign should be, having delved deeper and happening upon such a fascinating pattern among the signs. My ruling planet (Venus) is in Cancer, and my Moon in Aries gives me that flair for living on the edge, so to speak. I do admit I am somewhat of hedonist, I like to please my senses and I fantasize about living a particular lifestyle. My Ascendant Libra, like my Sun Leo are both interpersonal in this case, and I would be lying if I were to say my life did not revolve around my loved ones and pleasing them. I wouldn't say I'm a people-person, I'm more of a recluse, and I try to avoid social events as much as I can. Probably something in my chart. I hardly have any experimental in me, which is disappointing because I feel as if I exude more of that seeking out knowledge and intellectual pursuits in my personality than other kids my age. So though it is a very on-spot interpretation, it's not one I prefer over the original. edit~For instance, I know an Aquarius very well with a Capricorn Moon and Sagittarius Sun and she would surprise you. She's well for lack of a better word, a pothead, and she's got a terrible sailor's mouth. She's friendly but she will shy away from any intellectual conversation when the opportunity to arises. She's incapable of philosophical thought and needs to stay above the surface. All that comes out of her mouth is recreational activity, sex, and more sex. To me, she represents more of a superficial sign. No experimental influences in her nature, whatsoever, unless she happens to just be a master of disguise and can hide it well but I've known her for a very long time and she still hasn't exposed any experimental traits yet. In her case, I would stick with traditional chart readings as this would not apply to her. However, in general, it is very accurate.

In a physical confrontation such as a slap, two things can happen. It can escalate or it can be de-escalated. Jesus advocated de-escalation in these cases.

Pro 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

I believe this man is confused and is not interpreting The Bible through The Holy Spirit, there is terms that are used for people that read thier own meaning into the Bible and try to force it on others, That is why when we receive Christ we recieve The Holy Spirit, and Then we will have the interpretation God intended us to have, then when someone tries to steer us away, we will know better.

I agree to a huge extent.

When we react to someone out of anger or hostility, we are giving that person power over us--letting them be in control of our actions instead of ourselves. By 'turning the other cheek' we are in one sense telling the assailant, "Is that the best you can do?"

No I don't agree with that interpretation.

I think the creator of the universe was advocating loving self-sacrifice not passive-agressive spite...
