Would you all have drank it? And how much of it?
Why do people say its bad for you if jesus said it was alright?

i agree there is not point of drinking, I was just saying if your going to do it you might as well go all out. For me, I have never had a hangover, I am smart about it when I drink. 2 advils before I start to drink and I stick to either just beer or just liquor.

The almost universally accepted belief is that modest amounts of alcoholic drink — and especially red wine — help to reduce deaths from ischaemic heart disease (coronary heart attacks). Alcohol in moderation can also be shown to increase longevity even after the benefits derived from the effect of alcohol on blood clotting and arterial disease have been removed from the equation. Alcohol, and especially red wine, increase the proportion of HDL (the good cholesterol) to LDL (the bad cholesterol). There is an overall decrease in the amount of pernicious LDL in modest drinkers. Alcohol also alters the clotting mechanism by decreasing platelet stickiness, and has a useful effect on the amount of fibrogen and fibrinolysis in the arteries.
There is a growing body of evidence that resveratrol consumption through red wine has powerful chemoprevention properties, in addition to its apparent heart-health benefits.
Drinking moderate amounts of alcohol especially red wine is associated with a decreased risk of renal cell cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer and quite a few others.
Red wines – particularly Cabernet, Zinfandel and Merlot – have anti-microbial properties that defend against food-borne pathogens and don’t harm naturally useful bacteria like probiotic bacteria.
It has also been found that patients who have low to moderate blood alcohol levels may be less likely to die after arriving at the hospital with a traumatic brain injury than those with no alcohol in their bloodstream.
A study published in Journal of the American Geriatrics Society finds that moderate alcohol intake (1-2 drinks/day for 3-6 days/week, depending on alcoholic content) may lead to increased quality of life and survival in older women.
A new study suggests that alcohol may protect against rheumatoid arthritis
Getting drunk means you over indulge. Heavy drinking is associated with increased risks of cancers of the oral cavity, larynx, pharynx, esophagus, liver, breast and possibly the colon and rectum!
In moderation it is a medicine - but in greater amounts it is a poison!

I'm a Muslim. I live in Saudi Arabia... and by studying the ancient languages.. there are some translation errors to be noted... Wine the word as its in the modern bible doesn't necessarily mean alcohol... The word used at the time in the original scripts mean old grape or fruit juice which could have been translated the same... So Jesus was probably drinking grape juice like apple cider etc but not the alcoholic version, but you know how the translations loose accuracy after being translated throughout several languages to finally get to English... Jesus wasn't a drunk and didn't drink...

No where does he say getting drunk is alright. I chuckled at your additional details. "what's the point if your not going to get drunk."
Exactly! What is the point? How idiotic do you have to be where you are trying to get hung over, get a headache, feel nausious, vomit. There is no logical reason for drinking..............period. There are more beneficial things to spend your money on then to buy a hangover.
As far as suggested health benefits of moderate drinking, there are far better things that are entirely healthy that accomplish the same thing better, without damaging your liver and messing with your state of mind.

Well, He DID make an awful lot of wine, there! Like 150-200 gallons!!!
I think thereafter He was probably known as 'The Party Animal of Galilee,' and was most likely invited to EVERYBODY'S parties!
The Scripture speaks strongly against drunkenness, but their definition of drunkeness was VERY DIFFERENT THAN OURS. In the Talmud, during one sacred feast, Jewish men are told they should become so "merry with wine" (not 'drunk' mind you, but 'merry') that they cannot tell whether they have just blessed someone in the name of the Lord, or in the name of Ephraim! THAT'S PRETTY DARNED 'MERRY'!!!
Of course, none of them were getting into a car and driving 80 MPH to get home either. Our definition of drunkeness must of necessity be very different today......

First off, let me start off by getting some thumbs down.
Jesus changed the water into whine at the wedding because in those times, it was customary that the groom was in charge of providing whine for the guests. It was His wedding to Mary Magdalene.
And, to answer your question: moderation is the key.

I know somebody that said "the wine they had back then didn't have alcohol in it". He's obviously an idiot. But I guess turning water into wine would sound better than turning water into grape juice, kinda flows better.

The Bible say to drink but not to be drunk and lose your senses and controlling on yourself. Also i believe that if you take more than enough from anything (and i mean anything) that will turn around on you and cause problems in away or other.
Thanks

The drinking of wine is just that.
However when you take it to excess then it is no longer good for you, thus allowing your mind to weaken and stray from the godly life you were intended.

way back when beer and wine were necessary to remain healthy, the was no reliable way to purify water so the the the alcoholic drinks were needed to kill the little nasties that made people sick.

He was telling you that it's good manners to bring wine to a Jewish wedding! He was a nice Jewish boy, after all, and knew how to behave!
I'm sure somebody will tell you it was grape juice, and thus not alcoholic. All I can say is that if somebody brought GRAPE JUICE to a wedding... well... let's say he wouldn't be invited to many more ;-)
