Yes, God's mysterious ways. That's the one that drove me through the roof when I was in catechism class all those years ago. In answer to what I thought was a pretty simple question, the minister said, "That's one of God's mysteries. We're not supposed to know that." (Funny, I can remember the answer, but not the question.) When I went home after that class, I told my Sunday school teacher mother that I would go through confirmation to avoid embarrassing her, but that she should not expect to see me in church ever again after that.

From that time on, I got to read the Sunday Comics before my father, who was still asleep while Mom was in church.

The problem with some Christians is they don't even know what they believe, they're just Christian, because their parents are Christian. But everybody has the responsibility to find their own beliefs, and their own way in the world. Some people don't want to find the answers, so they give the "cop-out" sunday school answer, like you say.
Find someone who has sincerely sought out God's will in their own life, who has studied his word, and used their faith to talk with God personally in prayer, and you will find someone who won't just give "cop-out" answers.

No original sin...our own sin

The Lord said no…all souls are his. We can not use that proverb to explain our own sins.

NO ..WE DO NOT INHERIT THE SINS OF OUR FATHERS…

Ezekiel 18 …

1 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying, 2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? 3 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ..........ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

4Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
(THIS IS SPEAKING OF THE SECOND DEATH)

FIRST DEATH: DEATH OF THE BODY
SECOND DEATH: DEATH OF THE SPIRIT (SINNERS) These sinners are those who never accepted the Lord. They will have their part in the Lake of Fire...children of disobedience.

All souls are mine…no more shall you use this proverb…all souls are mine…saith the Lord.

We are responsible for our own sins. Free will is simply choosing to do right or wrong.

Whenever I'd question a priest about not being able to understand something, like the idea of 3 Gods in one (the Holy Trinity), I'd get an answer like, "That's a supernatural mystery, my child, which we must accept on faith alone."

God does not put one's sins on others. God is not unjust. If adam committed a sin, i am not responsible for it. If I commit a sin, my father will not be punished for it.

Read from the Bible (Ezakiel 18:20-29)

There is no concept of original sin in the bible.
It may be the teaching of Paul.

God's designs are too complex for our puny human minds to grasp.

edit -- Morganie's answer is a good one too. Only I think she meant her comment to be directed at you, rather than to add to the list of lame cop-outs.

I dont believe in free will (In Salvation) simply because I trust in Gods word when Romans 8 says "God forknew those whom he would love" and Ephesians 2 "Therefore we were predestined before the creation of the world as sons adopted through Jesus Christ" And Romans 9 "Therefore it does not depend on the man who wills but on God who has mercy" and following "The thing molded will not say to the molder why did you make me like this for who could resist His will and why does He stilll find fault with me. But who are you Oh man that answers back to God" If it was my decision to choose or reject Christ why did He die on the cross for my sins and cleanse me from them and if He did then why would some reject Him if He did. Christ did not die for the sins of everyone but only for those whom God gave Him as John 17 says. Only God and God only can open my heart to love and have faith in His Son. John 14 Jesus said "You chose me because I chose you first" God have mercy upon me the sinner

And also to help get my point lets say Adam and Even had free will what heppened to them they fell to sin and were tempted. So therefore God knowing free will would only be a destruction of oureselves from ourselves He had to be all knowing and sovoreign to predestine life before us and guide our paths to stay straight with faith. Its Gods hand that guides me and leads me and this is the christians hope that they have eternal life through Christ. Praise be to God

God has the Answers, but you do not seek, you fall lost, and get left behind, it is sad, because there is eternal life, and when you come around it will be too late, but it doesn't have to be that way, you can try to understand, or even ask God to show you, if you mean it, and really want to know the truth, you will.

yes there is a question you may have left out and that is to do with your Salvation. Jesus Christ died for you and wants you to receive the free gift of life and are you willing to receive it
