this question is all about the relationship of the triune God

2007-06-23 18:51:26 · 17 answers · asked by C@thy m@e 1

Alright, so the question is how can heaven be great?
"It's a perfect world with no problems!"
Really? So there's no goals to achieve? No one to help? Nothing to create since there wouldn't be a need, it's perfect! Besides the fact that your individual existence contributes absolutely nothing to it. Whether or not you're there, doesn't really affect much of anything does it? Also, how can heaven be great if even just ONE person you love is stuck in hell? I'd rather burn forever with my loved ones, than pull a lawn chair out in the endless white by myself.

"Heaven is the best thing unimaginable"
So, Christians live a life of denying simple pleasures (seven deadly sins) in order to gain the biggest indulgence of all?

"Only those who believe in Jesus get there."
So all my possible friends and the family's in third world countries who grow up with a different religion deserve to be thrown away and forgotten?

Please, present your argument with some REASONS.

A young lad had just passed his driving test and he went to his father, a minister, to discuss the use of the family car. His father said, if you bring you're grades up, study you're Bible a little more and get you're hair cut then I'll think about it. A month later the boy went to his father and his father said. "Son I'm real proud of you. You're grades have improved and you've studied your Bible dilligently but you haven't gotten you're hair cut." The boy thought for a mnute and said "Pop I've been thinking that and y'know Samson had long hair,Moses had long hair,Noah had long hair and even Jesus had long hair." His father replied !"Yes son but they walked everywhere."

A very wealthy man had many people working for him. Each week many people were in line to be paid, and were paid well for their work. But there was a small number of the people who were not in line to be paid, and they worked very hard as well. The people who were not in line to be paid, had the lion's share of the wealth, because they could recieve a portion of the entire estate at any time. What was the difference between the ones who were in line to be paid, and the ones who worked but did not ask to be paid??
The ones who waited for pay were servants. The ones who worked and did not ask to be paid were sons. Adopted sons. We can choose to be adopted at any time.]
Servants who wait in line to be paid serve God in order to get into heaven or keep from going to hell. Sons serve God, because He first loved them and think only of giving good service to him. Are you a son or a servant?

If mormons claim to be christian therefore monodiest(ONE GOD) how can you believe that if you lead a good mormon life and follow all the laws and strictures and rules when you die you then become gods of your own planets with all of your spirit family with you?? You can't believe you'll become a god if you are mono-diest. I just don't understand this.

With each passing day what we considered to be supernatural things can be explained by a rational scientific answer. Love one of the things thought to be mystic and unexplainable is nothing more than chemical reactions. Even faith has its origin. They've singled out a gene responsible for faith and explained that it helped us to bond and unify and therefore give us more chance to survive. Even the sense of something mystical or supernatural can be explained by certain reactions in the brain. So my question as agnostic is if science explains most things, why do you still cling to the spiritual ? Is it psychological ? Or has something happened that gives you faith. Please don't say how religion has turned your life around because that can happen appart from a god/supernatural force

I have not been searching for this but have stumbled upon the distinct simularities of ancient mythology and religion to be the same stories retold throughout the ages with only minor differences in regional origin befitting to the facts. Could there be only one Religion? Could there be only losses in translation by way of mouth and interpretation? I am convinced that as in our world today stories are manipulated to fit the situation at hand and are more over politically motivated and lose the truth to benifit the one reciting and for which reason they recite it.

I believe that for an act to be truly righteous, it must serve God. Because according to the Bible, all the acts of an unbeliever are ultimately condemned, and have no future eternal rewards.
What do you believe, and why?

I was meditating and I got to a clear, incredibly calm state where I just ceased to exist apart from in the things I was hearing around me. If a bird sang I WAS that bird, if the wind blew I WAS the wind. Moment to moment I was not me but the things around me. I was in such incredible peace and so connected to the ONE. I was not on any drugs or drink. It is hard to describe in words the state i was in.
The thing is this was years ago and I've felt an equally opposite disconnection and dark depression from around this time, equally hard to put into words.
Are we not supposed to feel these experiences?

Religious experts insist that God needs nothing and noone. I am no expert, but I have concluded that if God was perfect and anything he created had perfect intentions and were created as intended (Even Satan was created as intended for God created him and wanted him to follow his heart and thats what Satan did, because he would not force anyone or anything to do anything) he would have been labeled a dependent for even creating one single thing. Since God has the desire to create things, this means that God is not independent. He created them because he would not be satisfied without their creation. Something, some urge that bothered him so bad that he needed to take action had greater power than him. Me for example, he would not have created me if he did not NEED me. He is perfect, he doesnt create for fun.He can not live without humans and angels. He HAD to create them, for without them, he would never get to where hes trying to go with all of existance. Ultimately, God is DEPENDENT.

I've had the Holy Ghost before and have spoken in tongues. My friends of different religions do not believe in those things. I explain the feeling but they seem to have closed ears. I do not get upset with them but wonder if what I am doing is just a figment of my imagination?

Now I'm not trying to be mean, or anything and respect everyone's right to hold his or her personal beliefs. But it seems to me as an athiest you would not have a religion and/or spirituality and therefore why would you even bother hanging out in that section? Do you really think you are going to convince a believer to give up their deep seated beliefs or are you there just to pick a fight. Again, I don't want to be mean, I just want to know. Thanks.

Think about it, you were created you, I was created I. You like the things you like, I like the things I like. Why was it that 2/3 of the angels didn't rebel and 1/3 did? How was this possible? Afterall, the information presented to all of the angels in heaven were the same, yet there was a division in heaven of all places. How can there be a division like that, unless some angels were doomed from the start. Doomed to not be able to perceive God's perfection. I simply cannot understand it. Even if you said they had free will to rebel, it means nothing. From this I have deturmined that it is impossible for life to be fair. We all play the roles we have been given, yet we don't even know they are roles, when they really are.

the Blind SEE, Walking on Water, Turning Water into Wine, Making Donkeys Talk, Making a Fig Tree Die by Cursing it, Feeding the Multitudes with a LOAF of Bread and a few FISH, and on and on. C'mon now, Really? People actually buy into all this? (What is sad about it, I have just touched the surface.)

Why do people make such a big deal about dressing up when going to worship services? I went to my cousins church(he's mormon) and everyone was staring at us cuz we weren't dressed up all fancy. I mean it shouldn't matter what we wear, as long as we are there worshiping the Lord. Anyone agree?

No I do not believe the Church replaced Israel. Paul even stated that is not true. Paul stated that those that believed after Jesus was crucified were "grafted in" with those that believed before Jesus was crucified. Well that is not my real question...I just thought I would throw it out. OK did Jesus die for the sins of all the world? Does that mean Jesus died for Jews and Gentiles? If Jesus died for the Jews then why are they still concidered special? Is there some other way for the Jews to gain favor or salvation with God? As I know the Law of Moses never granted anybody salvation. So here is the forbidden question. This is for Christians to answer. If a Jew that does not believe in Jesus obeys the Torah, the Tanuk, the Talmud or whatever else they are required to obey and Loves Jehovah God with all their heart...are they granted eternal salvation? Once again I am talking about a Jew that clearly rejects Jesus as Savior but claims that they Love God with all their heart?
