so, and not making light of the subject, but religion could be compared to a popularity contest...whichever religion has the most believers is the winner?

I think that christians believe so much in their faith becuz their religion is the most widely practiced...My whole entire family is Christian...but I'm atagonist...I don't really have a believe...I kinda take different beliefs that have to do with right and wrong and make it my own belief...Im very open minded to new theories and cultures...but I would agree with everyone that most people belief their religion is right..becuz they dont want to be wrong..They want to feel safe with their own decisions....

Great question! I think if you ask anyone from any other religion, you'll get the same thing. They're right and everyone else is wrong. I guess it's just a characteristic of us fanatics! ;) But seriously, finding the right religion for you takes time, lots of study, and especially lots of prayer. (Since you're asking this questions I'm assuming that you believe there is a higher power.) Try going to different churches and see what you like best, where you feel the most comfortable, and who is most in line with your personal beliefs.
I personally strongly believe in the power of prayer so give it a shot. That just might lead you in the direction that's best for you.

Take care!

Because not only is it the "religion" that we grew up with, but it is the one that makes the most sense. And, new scientific discoveries are unearthing by facts that some of the events in scripture could have (and did) actually happened. In addition, the Christian belief is the only belief in which the savior died and came back to life and that is a fact. How do we know it's the right one to follow? Because it is and that is being PROVEN.

In a forum like this, we deal with questions and the answers from general groups of people. Some Christians, some Jews, some Muslims, some atheists and others.

It's natural for each person to feel that they are in the right group.

As for those who claim to be Christian, we are taught in the Bible to make sure of the things we believe and test them against all scripture to make sure that they really are the truth.

Jesus said "not everyone saying 'Lord, Lord' will enter into his kingdom". It's not sufficient to just belong to the group, even if it is the right group. We individually need to keep proving to ourselves what the will of God truly is.

Yes your bashing Christians! Pose this question in the same context to a Muslim.

Muslims will chop your head off for being a non believer.

Every religion believes they are the right and true religion. Even those who don't believe in a Deity believe that they are right.

It's not the religion we follow. We follow Jesus. Jesus arose from the grave and ascended into heaven and sent the Holy Spirit to live within believers. We know him and follow him. He draws us to him self and leads us in the right way.

edit:

Jesus said no man comes unto the Father except by him. That can only be taken one way. There is no other way.

Jesus is the door.

Believers are the sheep of God's pasture and our faith is proven to us over and over again, every day.

It's not just Christianity, it's many religions. But I believe the reason is human nature and the nature of religion.

Read the second paragraph if you don't feel like reading.

“Let’s say that you and I decide to travel separately to the
same place. You have a map that is blue and I have a map that is green. Neither map shows all the possible routes, but both maps show an acceptable—yet different—route to the destination. If we both take our trips and return safely, we would spread the word of our successful maps to others. I would say, with complete conviction, that my green map was perfect, and I might warn people to avoid any other sort of map. You would feel the same conviction about your blue map.

Religions are like different maps whose routes all lead
to the collective good of society. Some maps take their followers over rugged terrain. Other maps have easier paths.
Some of the travelers of each route will be assigned the job
of being the protectors and interpreters of the map. They
will teach the young to respect it and be suspicious of other
maps.”

Why bother trying to explain? Your still going to draw your own conclusion on hear say so pick up your Bible and start reading it for yourself. Study it from cover to cover and in depth. Read, Read ,Read ,Read. Start at John 3:16 first.

Filter all that you see and hear through God's word and go to God in prayer.

Where He leads He will guide you through with His Holy Spirit that resides in you after you have been saved and baptized.(Born again) that is when you have decided to turn your life over to Him and trust in His son Jesus Christ and what He had done on the cross for your salvation. You have repented of your evil ways(sin) and willing to walk a different road. Then you come forth for baptism, which is an outward expression to show all that you are not ashamed of God and you have shed the old self and have risen like Christ did from the grave as a new creature in Him.

because fallowing your religion makes it fertile and doesn't deplete the nutrients so you can grow more food on it.

sorry, that aside. All people think that their religion (or lack there of) is the right one to follow, that's why they follow it. If they thought that their religion was wrong they wouldn't really believe in it.
