I was raised Catholic from birth, and it was all colorful for a bit but once I reached adulthood I didn't feel enlightened at all. All that once was bright and good, became a big lie. Backed up by the most spiritual person in my family, my grandmother. Maybe it's her prayers that keep me alive, I don't know. I don't see people praying ever. I don't believe the people that surround me actualy believe in anything higher than themselves. But there's something inside me that makes me believe in something bigger than all of us. I have had it with organized religion. I'll respect yours, I'm not here to destroy anyone's belief. My belief was substituted by science and paychecks. I still believe in the Golden Rule. I live trying to make sence of my perception. In the past I used LSD many times. It never handicapped from doing anything someone who wasn't under the influence could do and it never affected my judgment. I believe in my experience I saw things as they really are.

I just read it on an answer here five minutes ago. Some guy said in response to a question mocking the creation museum, "Think for yourself and stop letting professors tell you how to think!!" I doubt it can get much more hypocritcal than that...

No thought provoking query here just a way to waste some points. Atheist I think it is time we started knocking on doors and handing out pamplets about the non existence of the Invisible Friend. Some of us need to stand on the street corner and shout there isn't a God. Some need to take public transportation. Some of us should be so brazen and stand outside of their houses of worship. Well, are you with me or not?

I'm not talking about Lucifer. Jesus said there are angels who carry us to heaven when we die. Where in the NT is it written?

Another rocket scientist just informed that spanking "is NOT hitting", "not violence" and that "every child needs a good one now & then."

Do you believe in equal rights for all? If so, please keep your hands off your children. This 'spare the rod' junk makes me want to toss my cookies everywhere.

How can hitting someone defenseless NOT be "hitting" or "violence"? Smack, spat, pat, I don't care. How dare anyone force a child to do something by instilling fear? You want to teach your young one not to cross the street without you? Then hold his hand and lock the back door.

Why are adults so stupid sometimes?

"Why are you asking this in religion?" - Because most people use the Bible as justification for committing heinous acts, and whacking a child is heinous.

Follow the Christ!" is the theme of next weekend's annual Jehovah's Witness District Convention .

More than 7,500 Jehovah's Witnesses from Utah, Southeast Idaho and Western Wyoming are expected to attend the three-day English event, which begins Friday, June 29, and continues through Sunday, July 1.
Some 5,000 Spanish-speaking Witnesses are expected to converge at the Dee Events Center a week later. Both meetings will have identical themes and organization. Only the language and speakers will change.
The two conventions are among more than 282 similar conventions to be held in the United States this year.

Facts:
Dinosaurs walked this earth; we know this because their bones were found.

Whats in the bible is true. We know this because there have been evidence on the earth to prove it. I know this because I am a Christan and believe.

You can drown in your formless side - your thoughts and emotions, and then look into the mirror, or pinch yourself and wonder what the heck your flesh is. It's a trap and a vehicle atthe same time, but is it even real?

I have a big dilemma.I've been interested in converting to be catholic. My mom is baptist and so is my dad. Well I'm having second thoughts about becoming Catholic because of Confession and a few other things. I believe that you should be able to talk to GOD and GOD alone when you are talking about your sins. I feel very wrong when I must confess to a preist. I told one of the sisters about this and she gave me her view. In doing so she told me that GOD isn't really there in a baptist church like in the catholic church because of the holy Sacrament. Then I felt like Santa Maria wanted me to stay when we in mass. They said that if you don't confess all your sins in confession you will not go heaven. I feel uncomfortable. I don't know what to think, now I'm leaning more towards being Baptist again but I'm scared that in doing so I won't go to heaven. I always was taught that if you tell god of your sins, and you make a vow not to do them again and baptized then you'd be free of sin. HELP

Oxford biologist Richard Dawkins writes,
"Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose."

Likewise, Nobel laureate Francis Crick writes,
"Biologists must constantly keep in mind that what they see was not designed, but rather evolved."

Both see the "appearance of design" - but both are atheists.
Wouldn't it be more logical to admit that there is a designer?

Sure, you can "prove" it with the Bible....so, is the Bible real? I'm not saying it isn't, but how do you KNOW? I say little prayers all day long for all sorts of reasons, but I know - and if God is real, HE knows too - that in the back of my mind, after the "amen" I think "if you're really there." I'm not a kid - I'm 56 - and still I'm wondering. Is there any real proof?
