It amazes me how many people think that communion is the same in any church.
If it isn't the true flesh and blood of Christ, then it is doing you no good, for this is what gives you life.
I would never partake of a symbolic communion, made up of crackers and grape juice or kool-aid, to me this is a mockery.
And even if they had a prayer of consecration over these substances, transubstantiation would not occur. For they have no apostolic succession, which is one essential aspect of the true Christian faith, and brings forth true priests to bring us the true eucharist.
God bless...

The two men on the road weren't part of the twelve "disciples".
Your analogy is about as persuasive as this:
Since Jesus was a carpenter, shouldn't we as Christians join a carpenter's union?
There are many reasons why those two men did not recognize Him and Jesus. For one, they thought He was dead, it would be the last person they would expect to be talking to. Second, He may have had His head covered. They also may have had tears in their eyes and could not clearly see His face. Also their thoughts could have been focused on the events of the day and not on who they were speaking to. (Actually Luke says "they were kept from recognizing Him." So Jesus made sure they did not recognize Him.) Whatever the reason, it is not necessary to assume from that story that the only way to see Jesus is through Catholic Mass. Surely the twelve could see and recognize Jesus before He died, so saying that the only way to see Jesus is through breaking bread with Him is false. He was recognized many many times with no bread involved. If I were you, I would look for a little more direct teaching of scripture to make your point.
Whoever is on thumbs down patrol is retarded.

I did go to a Catholic Mass and there were so many statues around of Mary, Joseph and various (???) supposed saints that I couldn't find or recognize Jesus there. And people counting beads and saying memorized and repeated prayers and getting up and down, up and down - how was that connecting to Jesus? I think if Jesus attended a Catholic church, He'd be upset, because it sure doesn't resemble the simple gospel, simple living, and simple worship He taught. I'd even say it was creepy to sit there and listen and watch. I felt nothing but my eyebrows going up. I don't mean to put down a religion but it's just so DIFFERENT from what I would have expected if that were Christ's church.

Protestants also recognize Jesus in the breaking of bread. Our "ritual" is just not always as complicated as the Catholic ritual. Perhpas we should spend less time quibbling over the ritual and who is right, recognize the basis for the belief is the same and stop acting like children.

No-How does that work? Catholicism is not now a true religion. When Mary and the saints are not prayed to and the queer priests and hierarchy get kicked out for getting in boys pants I'll have another look. You know- actually do the stuff Jesus said in the Bible.
