Why is abortion not murder (because the fetus is not human yet, doesn't feel pain, whatever whatever) but killing a pregnant woman is considered murdering the baby? This happened with that Scott Peterson case and probably with this pregnant woman now on the news. So what should change, should abortion be considered murder, or is killing a pregnant woman not so bad as the current law says?

God created the perfect world in a week (or10,000 yrs if you like?) & Adam & Eve(A&E) to have dominion over it.
But he forbids them to partake of the fruit of one tree?
Why did he forbid that?
I thought they had freewill?....anyway...
A&E are not taught concepts like good & evil, reward & punishment, heaven & damnation, eternity etc.....why not?
....so they are tempted by Lucifer
(an Angel, an earlier creation who was disobedient and was SINGULARLY damned by God)
..but this time when A&E, who suspect nothing, fall for Satan's promise of self-improvement... God damns them to a life of suffering, struggle death & eternal exile to hell..along with all of their progeny for the next....1000s of years?..JUST PROPORTIONAL PUNISHMENT?.A&E of course don't have a clue what they have done wrong...no idea of wrong and right...or the consequences they have brought down on all mankind, forever.God makes the world an evil, dark, scary place....of struggle misery sickness & death...W/ NO WAY OUT

I am a Christian that does not believe that Jesus and God are one. The bible holds no proof that this is the case so why do so many other Christians believe this?

Okay, so you go on two-year missions to convert people of third-world (and other) countries, and spend a LOT of money on it. Why not take that money, and instead of talking, try doing to show God's compassion? Build homes for the poor instead of thousands of new churches. In the past 6 months I have seen five LDS churches pop up within walking distance of my house (live in AZ) yet I see the churches doing nothing for the community. There are still homeless on the streets, and you're still sending kids out on missions. I'm agnostic-athiest-pagan and I'm doing more to help people than the LDS.
And my best friend is a Mormon, so don't think I hate all of you. I just want to know why build more churches and do more missions when you could do so much more for homeless people. Feed the starving, home the shelterless, educate the schooless. It doesn't matter what country you're in...stop trying to force beliefs and show people the compassion of God instead. Wouldn't it be better?

Does anyone else here find these eerie? I hate the whole "you're a daughter owned by your father, he hands you over to your husband then he owns you for life" thing. Why are the fanatics doing this, taking 9yr old girls to talk about sex with daddy (mom isn't important I guess?) then pledge themselves. They cry and worry about it...shouldn't they just be out being kids, riding bikes and kicking soccer balls around?

I refuse to be "owned" by ANY man--be he father or husband. Doesn't this take away basic human rights for females at some point?

Is there at any point in the Bible where it states that if a woman is married to a man, and her husband strikes her, and is abusive to her, doesnt that make her technically free. cant find any good verse on it.

See, here's the deal.
You claim to love the "god" you worship.
You also believe that "he" will torture you for
all eternity, if you don't accept "him."
So there is an element of FEAR in your "acceptance"
of this deity. You are motivated (if only subconsciously!)
not by LOVE for the deity, but by the same thing that makes
you grovel in front of a mob boss, loanshark, or schoolyard
bully. The emotion of FEAR, which is an ANIMAL reaction
to a threat. Here you have a guy who is threatening to torture
you, or maybe your friends and family who refuse to grovel
before "him." (Not to mention, if the "carrot" ("heaven") is so great, why does "god" need to hold up the specter of a torture pit to beat people into this "heaven" - e.g., the "stick"? This sounds like something old Vlad Dracula might do.)
So, is choosing to grovel in the face of THIS threat, not an act
of dog-like, cringing cowardice? (Even as grovelling before a playground bully and giving him all your lunch money every day is..?)

I know, more of the same crap, but really, it's not, I promise!

I am trying to figure out why these people claim to KNOW there is a god.

Is it just me, or does everyone agree that they believe in God because of:

1) Faith (Dogma?)
2) What they were taught, told, explained...etc

Here is what I mean.

A child is born on a deserted island (No, not imaculate conception, but let's just say it's just the mother and the child.)

The mother has never heard of religion before. Therefor, the child will never hear about religion from it's mother. Would this child all of a sudden believe in a god? Without some outside force compelling this child to believe, my thought is that he wouldn't.

Now, we have people saying they KNOW there is a god. How do they know? Saying I "KNOW" something implies that you have proof of what you claim to know.

As an atheist, I do not deny the possibilty that there COULD be a god, I just choose not to believe it myself. Explain please?

Thanks!

Seriously, if you read something in the paper, does that make it infallibly how everyone who looks or acts like that person representative of each and every member of that group? Take that Christian mother who was found today. Her ex husband, a selfish little twit, killed her because he didn't want to have the responsibility for paying child support for another child, which he should have thought about before cheating on his current wife. Does that mean all Christian men will kill their pregnant wives or lovers since we keep hearing stories about it?

No, that sounds stupid you say? Don't you think it sounds just as stupid when you see some people from other countries doing stupid stuff and generalize the same stupid stuff about them? And why is it that when these things happen, religion is not mentioned, but if it's a muslim who did it, there religion is the first thing the media shouts? I really don't get it. Parents killing and nuking kids, should I generalize the same?

Lover of God posted this in response to an answer I gave to one of his questions.

"Girl wonder

I wonder if you ever get tired of saying "I dont worship your God" "I dont believe in the Bible." Why dont you go play dungeons and dragons, or draw a baphomet or something. Your answers are neither informative or constructive. Just a waste of your time and others."

I can't tell if he's calling me a geek or a heathen. Or maybe both? And why won't he use apostrophes? What did they ever do to him?
