dinosaurs were long gone before the men who wrote the Bible were born and their bones weren't discovered till long after so the people who wrote the Bible didn't know about dinosaurs.

Some people think that dinosaurs were mentioned in the Bible, like the Leviathan mentioned in Job, Psalms and Isaiah, and the Behemoth mentioned in Job. These are not actually references to dinosaurs, no matter how hard creationists try to make us believe that. The Leviathan and the Behemoth are both mythological creatures that are mentioned in other sources too, besides the Bible. Some say that the Bible would not talk about mythological creatures, because they are not real and the Bible only talks about the truth. But remember, the Bible also talks about unicorns, and does so in more places than it does these other creatures (Numbers, Deuteronomy, Job, Psalms and Isaiah). Some Christians will say it was talking about rhino's or some other animal, not unicorns. But the Bible says Unicorns. And of course it also mentions dragons. Does any rational person believe that fiery dragons really existed?
We should think hard before we go changing what the Bible says to fit our own beliefs, rather than the other way around.
People in Biblical times found fossils of gigantic bones, just as we do today, and they did not know how to explain them. They had no understanding of the primeval earth, or the history of life on earth, any more than creationists have today. The only way they could think of to explain such strange things, like so many strange things they tried to explain, was to refer to mythology and mysticism.
So no, dinosaurs were not talked about in the Bible.

It is in the Bible. In Job 40:15 it describes a Saraupod type of creature, like a brontosaurus or something. The description rules out any other type of land animal.
Crocodiles don't eat grass.
Elephants and Hippos do not have big tails.
It is entirely possible that the vegetarian dinosaurs God created were taken on the ark and later died by human hands or some environmental factors. It would account for every culture having some sort of dragon legend. I don't understand why people don't look at crocodiles and alligators and komodo dragons as dinosaurs. They say some dinosaurs were as small as chickens back in the day, so why isn't a reptile bigger than that not a dinosaur?

Of all the books written throughout history, how many mention all the animals? The Bible's purpose was for God to make himself known to us. It does not have to answer every single question we have. If we believe the Bible, then those questions are answered.
Did you read the recent stories about the finds of large "dinosaur" fossil finds? They made mention of the fact that not many large fossils have been found. Not many at all. The picture drawn in our minds by these people is that the earth was full of dinosaurs. Says who? Most of the fossils finds are of the small type.
I look at it this way. Dinosaurs were insignificant for the most part. Just like we consider the large animals that roam the planet today. I don't see many love stories or books of philosophy or theology written even today making mention of them. And who cares for that matter. Reason? They do not add to the story.

No particular animals are mentioned by name in the early history recorded in the Bible (Genesis 1-5). This is understandable because thousands of years are covered in a mere few chapters. However since animals were created on the 6th day then logically dinosaurs were created on the sixth day. Since the animals were gathered and place on the ark - then the dinosaurs were logically placed on the ark.
The name 'dinosaur' (meaning ‘terrible lizard') was only coined in 1841, therefore even if they named animals in Genesis 1-5, they would not have used this relatively new name. Some have suggested that what has been referred to as dragons were in fact stories of dinosaurs. Dragons are referred to in several places in scripture and can be found in stories from may different cultures.

The men who wrote the various books in the Bible did not know about dinosaurs, and God chose not to tell them. What's in the Bible MIGHT be true, or it might just be an explanation of phenomena as people of that time understood them. Yes, there is evidence to support dinosaurs, as well as both evolution and creation. I'm inclined to think that BOTH are true.

Just because there is evidence in the bible doesn't mean that PROOF.
There's a thin line between evidence and proof.
It wasn't mentioned in the bible because the people back then didn't know that dinosaurs lived before them.
Next time you should use your brain instead of just typing anything on Yahoo Answers.

This has been beat to death... Dinosaurs had the earth to themselves..they were wiped out many many many years before man arrived.. The Bible writers didn't have a clue about dinosaurs... Just like Christians close their eyes and pretend they never lived.. Neanderthals lived way before the " first man" Adam.. In general....Man created God.

Wrong place and time.
Dinosaurs walked the earth, but not in the Middle East where much of the Bible was documented. Also, dinosaurs were extinct before biblical times, so they were not around when the events of the Bible took place.
Since dinosaurs were not significant in the life of Christ and the prophets who came before, they really aren't that significant today, except for their natural intrigue.

Some Biblical scholars believe that there were dinosaurs mentioned in the Bible. They were referred to as a "Leviathan" or "dragon". I believe there is a reference to the leviathan in Genesis. There's also a reference to it in Revelation and Isaiah but that is referring to the end of times. There's a good reference for a lot more information below...
