... or the hand-painted resin tableau of Jesus and the little children they bought at the Family Christian bookstore, or perhaps that Last Supper reproduction ...
Glad someone asked. Good job.

Um, no Christian prays to a Nativity set. Except sorta the one at church on Christmas when the baby Jesus is laid in it. At least that's what Catholics do.

I am not Catholic however, it occurs to me if you read the Scriptures and a good dictionary your question is irrelevant as well as sarcastic.
Exodus 20:
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, Ex 20:4-5 (KJV)
Merriam-Webster
Main Entry: graven image
Function: noun
Etymology: graven, past participle of 1grave
Date: 14th century
: An object of worship carved usually from wood or stone : IDOL
Main Entry: idol
Pronunciation: \ˈī-dəl\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French idle, from Late Latin idolum, from Greek eidōlon image, idol; akin to Greek eidos form — more at IDYLL
Date: 13th century
1: a representation or symbol of an object of worship; broadly : a false god
2 a: a likeness of something
From the Catholic Encyclopedia:
Being the one true God, He alone is to be adored, and all rendering to creatures of the worship which belongs to Him falls under the ban of His displeasure; the making of "graven things" is condemned: not all pictures, images, and works of art, but such as are intended to be adored and served.
I believe that after reading the above Scriptures, definitions and excerpt one can fairly conclude that God’s condemnation of “idol worship” is confined to those things worshiped as a deity: golden calf’s, obelisks’, the Sun, your own mind, etc.
One could further conclude that worship of the one true God in the presence of a Cross, Crucifix, Statue, Stained Glass windows, Rosary, a Bible, a picture of Jesus, etc is NOT idol worship.
As a Protestant I do not agree with the RCC’s belief that you must have intercession here in order commune with the Lord. My God is personal and my Saviour has Sanctified and Justified me on a personal level. On the other hand I don’t believe that their dual magisterial system will deny them Salvation.
But hey, that’s just me.

Nativity sets are not idols. They are plastic figurines. Idles are something to be idolized. No one I know of idolizes nativity scenes.

We don't worry about that. Since the Nativity is just a symbol to remind us of the reason we celebrate Christmas it has no effect on where or when we pray since our prayers are directed to God.

My God! I think - my little tiny nativity scene that I bought at the Dollar General store - a few Christmas's ago might be in one my drawers in our (my Husband's and Mine) master bedroom.???
I do wear a Cross (just plain - gold - My Husband bought it for me) - and my wedding rings and a watch! I do not believe that this is idolatry!
I and my husband pray wherever we are! No particular place - We do Pray Every night just before we go to bed - just before we go to sleep - together! We pray at every meal - even in public - We have NO shame! I Thank God that we live in a country where we have 'That' right! I've been to 42 different countries and - I have been in countries - where 'That' Is NOT Allowed!
Please be at Peace - Accept the Grace of God in your Life!
Take Care and God Bless!
PS
How is my ending for my last two lines "Please be at Peace and Accept the Grace of God in your Life" - Nasty or negative?????? This was written to me on one of MY QUESTIONS that I ASKED?? I do not understand this!

ooh idol worshipers ; ) funny how it's okay to have up a nativity but nothing else that reminds us of the beauty and joy of our Lord. guess we should only have other reminders ar Christmas and forget about it the rest of the year.

Well, since I only have it up from Christmas Eve to Twelfth Night, I don't usually pray around it.
