The Nicene Creed explains the relationships between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Peace and every blessing!

Very simple. The Triune God as they say is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as to being one and the same God but all three have different divine stature. God the Father always is the top among the three, followed by God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. It is not because that's the way it is written in the Bible or that's how it is said in prayers. But while each entity is unique to being one and the same in every aspects of divinity, each entity have different divine rank or position is that's how you say it. This is just my own perspective, God the Father is the over all head in heaven, God the Son is the one who speak the divine words as Jesus Christ on earth and God the Holy Spirit is the symbol of faith that comes from heaven to anyone who believe in God (The dove that came down from heaven when John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the river, the dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit)

geez, you think that a limited Yahoo 360 answer can tackle that one? sheesh
based on one passage in the Bible, a benediction from Paul, it has grown into a huge repetitive thing. the three have nothing in common except a repetitive use in Christian services, liturgies and creeds that goes on and on.
basically, here's as far as I've gotten, and have read several books that deal extensively with this subject. The Son and the Holy Spirit are both gifts from God. There is one God. One can repeat the Father, Son and Holy Spirit mantra forever, but there is only one God, and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are both gifts from that God.
I could be wrong......

‘Christ according to the faith, is the second person in the Trinity, the Father being the first and the holy Ghost the third. Each of these three persons is God. Christ is his own father and his own son. The Holy Ghost is neither father nor son, but both. The son was begotten by the father, but existed before he was begotten--just the same before as after. Christ is just as old as his father, and the father is just as young as his son. The Holy Ghost proceeded form the Father and Son, but was an equal to the Father and Son before he proceeded, that is to say before he existed, but he is of the same age as the other two. Nothing ever was, nothing ever can be more perfectly idiotic and absurd than the dogma of the Trinity.’

God is the father, he showed himself to the world through the Son, Jesus Christ and put himself forth as a role model for all who needed a reminder to obey his will. Jesus is called the son because God created his son's in his own image. I believe when we are talking about the son we are refering to his image as it was on earth. Since he gave birth to a perfect physical being through Mary. The holy spirit comes from reading his word in the Bible. The holy Spirit is God speaking to us. In 1Peter 3:16 , (keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.) Romans 12:2 (Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is- His good, pleasing and perfect will.
We know that all 3 are one because it is written but
ofcourse none of us will able be able to understand the relationship fully since it is said that none shall ever know me well and those that think they do, are indeed far from knowing me at all. <<
We'd all like to think we know the answer to this question and we can answer it vaguely but indeed we all may have to wait for that day we kneel before God. Love and God bless all of you, AMEN.

The Father is actually God. The son is wrongly named as he is Jesus and a prophet like Noah and Abraham, etc. The Ghost is also wrongly names as the Ghost is not that, but the angel Gabriel. So the relationship is a lot like ours with God, but they probably are a bit closer being as how important they are and how they carry God's message.
