I am Baptist, I have faith, but I do not entirely believe the bibles' story. I look at it as a guide to right and wrong and I believe that it may be based on true events. I want to hear from the christians that put all of their belief in it. How can you put so much belief in it when it has no proof. How is it that the bible starts at day 1 of the earths creation but never mentions dinosaurs or even neanderthals. Why can't the Bible be a book that a man wrote, then had published? Or even a book written, forgotten and buried. Then one day everything on earth was wiped clean except the Bible. Evolution takes place and a human finds this book and says "This is it, this is how it all happened!" So many different scenerios. Why is it we can't believe in God without a Bible?

My wife is Catholic......I am Protestant, but without a specific denomination. We are having a child within the next five weeks. I want my child to grow up knowing God. I don't belong to a specific Church (my beliefs are a bit hard to explain). We basically have about 90% decided to raise our child as a Catholic. I have reservations about this though because my wife was never taught (in Sunday school or catechism classes) the stories from the bible. My wife seems to know all there is to know about being a Catholic, but doesn't know much of the bible itself. I know I didn't like going to services much as a child because I always wanted to be out doing things with friends, so I'm not sure I want to have to make my child learn to to be a Catholic, attend a service that they will not understand or appreciate till they are older, then bring them home and teach them myself out of the bible. Is this just the parish where she went or is this pretty typical throughout the Catholic Church?

He said there were writers who would use their imagination and right histories as a hobby.
Those histories were read by the people just like today we read books, and like the Greeks used to write histories today known as Greek Mythology.

One day these chinese commerce traders visited this Jew lands and sell all their goodies, as time pass the chines start reading those magic histories just like regular novels to entertain them selves.

1 day an important Jew asked the chinese how they form such a big nation without slaves and yet everyone was living in comfort., the chiness respond,,by doing business.
The jew asked them to teach him how to develop this business., the Chiness reply you can star by make your people to beliave those books were dictated by a superior God. we sold the printer to Greeks now they making good business & building beautiful palaces.
We can sell you the printer, but print all the books in one & charge people while you read it

What do you think?

Until lately, I didn't use to think much of religion.
I believed, but I didn't question it much. It wasn't an issue to me. I didn't follow any religion. But now I realize there's something lacking in my life. There must be a purpose for living. I can't go on like this.

I want the truth now! I want it nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!

I have only been to one where the preacher went out of his way to tell us how awful certain other religious groups are. No one in the congregation seemed to argue with what was said. I was a guest, and knew that what was said was not true (since I had been to the churches of these religions which were being picked on.)

I'm assuming that most of you don't experience this at your church. But I know it exists...have any of you seen this taking place? My next question is, do you ever question what is said? Or do you go along with it because a church leader is saying it?

They say God helps those who help themselves. Does that mean that he loathes the lazy, impoverished people? BTW, is it true that most people are poor because they are lazy or stupid? Do you know any povs? Perhaps you are a pov yourself?????? What is it like to have nothing?

A poll taken over 2000 years ago showed that 97% of then-modern civilization believed in Zeus. When Christianity came along, the beautiful Roman empire fell and now we have 9/11, school shootings, and Barry Manilow. If we embraced Zeus, NONE of these horrors would have occurred!

Gay 14 and 15 year olds are "endangered", it is claimed, by a bill that would make it illegal for those not less than 5 years older to have sex with them. A staff writer for Xtra.ca ("published by Pink Triangle Press, a not-for-profit organization born out of and committed to the struggle of lesbians and gay men for sexual liberation and human fulfillment") explains that "gay teens often have no peers who are potential sexual partners" and that "gay teens have precious few ways of learning about the way we live. Gay teens are ostracized by their peer group; often the only people they can 'be gay around' are older."

ok i just watched a show, i totally forgot the name, but it's an old show...these 4 old women, one of them thought that her husband was cheating on her and the 3 others knew for a fact that he was but they kept on saying no! burce is a saint! no! dont divorce! and i asked my mother and she said she would never leave her husband if he was cheating, she would jsut turn her head away and ignore the other woman. my friend [24]just got divorce because her husband had an affair. my mother evern told me if my husband [by the way i am not married, single here!] was cheating she would never tell me! i feel so hurt because i'm the only child thus the only girl, she said it would be her protecting me but how is she protecting me?? i felt so betrayed by her saying that to me!! i really did. why would she do such a thing to me? also is there a different view on adultery for young v. old people??? what she said really upset me! i am so pissed, i felt so betrayed!! i really cant get over that!

Judging by the answers I've read, it seems that Jehovah Witnesses believe that you must be saved and do good works for salvation, BUT this may not be enough (that God still may not remember you). Is there no way to know for sure?

If this is how you believe, please give Biblical references for why you believe this way. Thanks.

To non-Witnesses: Please be kind in your responses.

What percentage of the knowlege of the world do you think you have. An average person knows 5% of the worlds knoweledge. So why do atheists believe that God doesn't exist, when they only know 5% of the worlds knoweledge. There is still 95% of the worlds knoweledge left! Can't god exist in that 95%? An atheist person is sure there is no God. If they only have 5% of the worlds knowelege, what makes them so sure there is no God?!

It seems that young people think nothing of having children out of wedlock, even the ones that go to Church. I know about the "well, at least they weren't aborted" thing but isn't that like saying Thank God my son only robbed a bank but, he didn't shoot anybody?
