The liturgy of the hours originated in monastic communities, based on Paul's urging to "pray without ceasing." They are also referred to as "the divine hours" and are morning, midday, vespers (evening) and compline (before retiring). It is a ritual of prayer, scripture and sometimes song.

Liturgy of the hours from my Catholic Christian point of view is a beautiful way to praise God. Like for me, I start off the new day with Liturgy of the hour morning prayer then later on the rosary. There are other prayers like evening prayer and lastly the night prayer which is before bedtime.
