No cheating by looking them up.
#1 "God helps those who help themselves"
#2 "Hate the sin...love the sinner"
Even if you look them up I quess it is ok. I really wish people would stop miss-quoting the bible and consider it "God's Word".

I got my Bible 11 years ago and it was a gift. I am sure the person that gave it to me blessed it. Is it necessary to bless your Bible to keep the holiness?
I am just wondering because I know it can't hurt.

I saw a story on tv where a woman in Ohio was upset because she got a cup of coffee from Starbucks that had a quote on it from Bill Scheel saying something about it is foolish how people believe in God rather than themselves (dont remember exact quote). When I asked Starbucks about this they said that they have other quotes from Rick Warren (Purpose Driven Life) and Mike Doughty who laments about extremists and hipsters saying there isn't a God. So, is all this jazz really appropriate for a coffee company? Now, i'm a Christian, but even I want religion out of certain places. What is the point of pro/anti religion message on cups? What is next, pro/anti gun debate messages on coffee from Dunkin' Doughnuts? Perhaps Krispy Kreme will have pro-choice/pro-life messages on their coffee. Does anyone else thing this whole ad campaign is really unneccessary to sell their product?

I firmly believe that Christianity is good and helps people. I've tried to become a believer and, intellectually, I can fully accept it and even revel in it. However, I don't feel a connection with God...ever. I pray and I feel foolish for talking to myself. What now?

This is directed towards actual Christians - not atheists or anyone else. I'm not here to debate the veracity or importance of Christianity - only the emotional aspect of it.

I have always wanted to ask this but dont know of any atheist in my personal life.

I was just wondering, as an atheist have you ever held a reasonable conversation with a believer in God about things
biblical or of God in some way , and the conversation was
respectful all the way around. Do you know what I mean?

Should we pressure government to create a new form of currency for atheists only? Or should we just "sit down and shut up" and be controlled by a decidedly christian run government?

Ok, so my family and I are Catholic. But, a couple of years ago we stopped going to church. Now, my mom says I should believe in God more and read the Bible. This might sound bad but, I tried reading it and cant get into it. I understand it, but I just dont take an intrest in reading it. Should I believe in God more and try harder to read the bible?

Or am I asking the wrong question?
I am a Christian, but I believe strongly in natural medicines and Holistic healing.

I don't believe in the witchcraft part, and I know not all Wiccans practice witchcraft.

Is that the same thing as being a Wiccan Christian?

"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

In the second chapter, "A Prayer for union with the Spiritual Teacher [entitled] Natural Liberation, without Renunciation of the Three Poisons", why does the prayer not involve renunciation?

"[Prayer for self empowerment],
...
Without renunciation of ignorance and delusion"

It also abandons renouncing desire and clinging, discordant views and aversion, and the subject-object dichotomy.

I thought that renunciation was very important to buddhists and monks, especially about the likes of desire! So why does the prayer specifically state the absence of renunciation?

Sorry for my ignorance on the matter but I am baffled by this!

We Christians have been taught that we will receive persecution, trials, and tribulations from the world. We have been taught that when we receive these trials, to count it as pure joy. We have been taught that the world will hate us because of our beliefs.

Please continue posting questions of this nature because it is strenghtening our faith.
