Catholics ARE Christians, so it is the same God.

Your question requires a clarification rather than an answer, I am afraid. Roman and/or Greek and Russian Orthodox Catholics ARE Christians, in fact, in the case of Roman Catholics, the original Christians, the founders of Christianity. I recognize that fundamentalists apparently tend to regard themselves (only) as Christians when in actuality they are Protestant Christians, all descended, one way or another, from Martin Luther's schism with the Catholic Church. Having said the preceding, all Christians (by virtue of the name) believe in Jesus as the Savior, and therefore in the same God. Thus, there is no or should be no conflict, among them due to differing gods although there is perpetual Catholic/Protestant warfare in Northern Ireland -- one which is more political than religious.

God isn't "rivaling" with anyone it's the people who claim to speak for him/her/it. To know what god thinks and feels ask him yourself. Because you are in the mind of god and god wants to keep his mind together you CAN understand the mind of god. It's not any words in book or speeches by so-called religious leaders. It's within you and all around you all the time. All you need to do is find a few quiet moments and :
1 stop your reptile brain from yelling survival instructions you don't need,
2 stop worrying about the past. You can't change it.
3 stop planning your future for a little while. The universe will go on anyway.
4 Then just BE HERE NOW!
I do it before I go to sleep and just when I wake up in my safe warm bed.
Of course your mileage may differ.

The "Catholic" God and the "Christian" God is the same God. God cannot be in conflict with Himself.

It is the misguided and/or ill-instructed human beings who insist on engaging in equally misguided and ill-instructed games of spiritual one-upmanship.

While we should not question their devotion to God, we can and should question some of the manners in which this devotion has manifested itself in potentially destructive and unChrist-like behavior.

Most Catholic and non-Catholic Christians know and understand that, while we may hail from different denominations, we all worship the same God.

Jews, Christians (including Catholics), and Muslims all worship the one true God of Abraham.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

Still rivaling.
The Southern Baptist God is rivaling the American Baptist God who has joined the Sunni monotheist God. The Shiite God has joined the Jehovah Witness and Seventh Day Adventist God and they are all going house to house and trying to exterminate the brains of the Infidels who have joined the Presbyterians who have gone down town to join Fidelity Investment Advisers.
The Atheists are keeping their heads down hoping that when they peek out from behind the tree the carnage will have ended and all the God Fans will have exterminated each other and we can live in peace just like all of the religious nuts forgot to preach.
