"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

bad, YOU'RE obviously the fool.
Even God said it of you.
"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God" (Psalm 53:1).
You're child-like mannerism indicates it:
In response to the SILLY question:
"Why is it that sexually repressed religous girls seem to be the horniest?"
You respond:
"I love to eat them though. "
Now THAT'S a FOOL.

Why not get rid of the Pledge of Allegiance completely. It does not make a good person of you. It's obeying the Word of God that makes a good person.
Why do you think, the prisons are full of so-called Christians, why is it that so-called Christians are the ones that "burn, spit, step on the "flag" and show disrespect not only to the flag but to the country they live in?
I can think of a President of the U.S.A. that saluted or said the pledge of allegiance every day, yet He had to leave office because of wrong doing, and the deliberate act of deviating from the truth. So the saluting and pledge is not what makes you a good person, it's obeying God's Word, that does.

i'm no longer going to place in writing 1000 word reaction describing the origins of the Pledge of Allegiance. i'm going to enable you to seem that up on your very own. i'm going to assert this to you and all people who spoke back. Being an Atheist, a Buddhist, a Muslim, or a Jehovah's Witness, shouldn't subject count number. As long as you do no longer infringe on anyones rights to show the Pledge, you mustn't be punished. You asked the question "is this acceptable?". i've got confidence for people who could desire to ask then you definately are conscious of it wasn't. you won't be able to be forced to recite any pledge or oath. Now to all you persons who say "in case you do no longer discover it impossible to stand as much as bypass away and are available across another u . s ." it truly is my u . s . too. i do no longer prefer to bypass away. and that i do no longer could desire to bypass away. NOsfishin. i to served my u . s . in the army for a protracted time. i could desire to ask you why did you serve? To be honored? So persons may be grateful? I served so persons might have the right to be ungrateful, so as that they might have the right to talk up and declare me somewhat one killer in the event that they needed to. residing with freedoms way freedom for all, or it will advise no longer something.

Certainly having God in the Pledge of Allegiance has done nothing to prevent any of the things you mention

The "right" time will never come, because there will always be hurricanes, tornados, fires, mudslides, severe thunderstorms, terrorists and some impending horrible doom to civilization. Natural disasters have always been going on; they just weren't as disasterous before because there wasn't as much to destroy.

Late 1954 would have been a good time, but better late then never.
"Are we sure this is a good time to revert to the original Pledge of Allegiance?"
fixed that for you....no charge.

The Pledge of Allegiance had "under God" added to it in the 50s so that the US could distance itself from the "Godless communists". It should be taken out and the pledge restored for the sake of historical accuracy.

I really could not care less, as I see pledging allegiance to a piece of nylon cloth preposterous anyway. Just like all the uproar about burning it... it's a piece of cloth! Who cares?!?!

I refuse to say the pledge of allegiance simply because of its reference to a deity I do not believe exists. This is not one nation "Under God". This is one nation "by the people, for the people". We can all do without the religious fascism, whether you have a faith or not.
By the way, asker, you're obviously ignoring the words of Jesus.
Matthew 5:22
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Yes. It never should have been inserted into the original pledge of allegiance in 1954 in the first place.
